I was thinking at dinnertime last night how soon, when I start to try to reason with my daughter, I won’t be telling her that there are ‘Starving children in Ethiopia who could eat that’, I’ll actually be able to say ‘There are starving children down the road who could eat that’. Not that foodbanks accept half-eaten dinners but she won’t know that for a while.
