I am so divided on this. His dancing is great content for all the wrong reasons and I love seeing him get involved, but it is straight up cultural appropriation. When he talks in patois it’s excruciating!
Oh 100%. I just get the impression that he’s so clueless that he doesn’t understand that.
I suffer really badly with second-hand embarrassment and just Eli Reed’s name makes hide out in my panic room for the week.
Does he have actual Jamaican heritage or is he just into the vibes?
I don’t get what is wrong with him enjoying another culture not native to his own home and enjoying dancing.
Let him be.
Said it before, likely in this thread - I wish I could look that happy!
I think it’s more about when he does this @Londonskater. That’s where the cultural appropriation shit comes into play. The dancing video is hilarious. I’ve watched it so many times now
He’s not quite on ‘Adele on holiday in Jamaica with dreads’ levels but it’s getting there
Edit: This was a genuine question about cultures influencing cultures… but asking anything online today feels like a mistake, haha.
Eggshells
Think his mam lives in Jamaica? Honestly Eli Reeds dancehall vibing has been the best thing on insta for the last couple years each one gets so good, kills me
DYING
Hate to be that guy and maybe it’s because I rarely rate Atiba’s work, but that photo is pretty poor imo.
The trick, the skater, the spot, the form……all 10/10. Fucking love Tyshawn! However, something about the photo has a very ‘my first skate pic’ feel about it.
You should read Atiba’s opinion on it
Insta? I’ll go check it now.
Lol. BIG difference of opinion between me and him then. Why’s he tagging jaeger meister in the post? Weird dude.
Someone should have shot a similar photo of Atiba, but when he jumped the shark.
