Yes, also because it wasn’t very good and more so because the guy who made it was a well connected/sponsored snowboarder who went on to become a TV celebrity.

Nah, Ed worked for Permanent at that point as the editor of White Lines - good dude.
It was Adam Gendle who made Skate Mum as I remember - he went on to do loads of shows for Red Bull, Disney etc.
I remember at the time a lot of skate people involved in that DITC (the last one I think?) weren’t happy about that clip winning
Oh yeah, I remember that.
From memory, the prize purse was £4k. And that £4k went to first place. No one else got anything, but on the night I think people were expecting it to be split between a couple of places and some awards for different things (Best trick, best slam, etc).
The whole DITC thing was run by an OG skater who was in that first wave of pro snowboarders and made his money there and worked in that industry. He’s a really nice guy but the guy who shot skate mum and won was one of his mates…so there was all this talk of it being a fix but, I think that part would never actually hold up as the guy who ran it wasn’t a judge.
But yeah, on the night, a lot of people were kinda going “Is that is?”
Another funny DITC one…@Mark and I got a runner up prize in the first one. A book. To share. ha ha ha.
We actually did take turns with it. So, fair do’s.

I was 17 at the time so a grand wouldve been sick!!
I did the 3rd one which was 2003. Makes me feel old.
