The music nerd in me is disapointed in two aspects at the moment:
it took me until now to get into this and somehow glossed over this project, especially when I listened to DnB non stop a few years back.
That it was Graham Sutton and Daniel Gish from Bark Psychosis who were in this project and I probably also glossed over that fact when reading about it a bunch getting into them.
I probably listened to this a bunch when I would spin the “Grooverider Presents: The Prototype Years” compilation and never thought much of it.
I loved Squarepusher. But the past…oh…16 years…pretty terrible.
This is kinda sick, tho.
Also, the video is a modified CRT TV with some sort of control to only react to elements of the mix (I’m guessing some sort of compressor on the signal…) and a bit of processing to do the titles. But live in one take…pretty fucking cool.
Maybe I missed some good SP in those last 16 years?
I was about to say that there are some great bits of SP in the past 16 years then I looked up that Just a souvenir was 15 years ago. A weird album which has some of the worst SP on it but a golden handful of tracks in the middle. Ep just after, Numbers Lucent is good too
most things after that felt freezing cold in sound but there are a few fairly decent bits dotted amongst.
