Luke Vibert is more listenable than Aphex to me. I love his acid lines.

Vibert is great.
Before Syro came out I was gagging for more Tuss style Aphex and I guess he gave us that in a way and I felt disappointed. I played it alot though and it’s a great album but Last Rushup 10F is peak Aphex for me.

This is the one. I appreciate a funky beat and an acid line

See, nothing against you here LondonS, I totally agree with what you’ve said, but it’s just that kind of reasoning that sounds like the kind of thing that riles up markg (and me).

Listen to it on youtube with headphones to swerve the whole Tate wanker experience, I think. Or, put some Om on

I dunno, I was hoping the Tate thing would be perfect for that album and elevate it as i’m very indifferent to it personally.

Seems a perfect match to me, big ex industrial space and this modern eerie tripped out moody music. Don’t get the beef. Is it you don’t like this music presented as art or that art shouldn’t be cheapened by music?

The only thing i wouldn’t like is being locked in a big room with a load of aphex twin fans

Syro is cool but the clip of that tune being played by him at a festival before it came out was better somehow

That’s just the album version played straight.

Yeah but it was 4 years before the album came out and just seemed really ethereal with a bit of live atmosphere and slightly reduced sound and some natural reverberation, like the album version sounded a bit too clean and dry afterwards

Oh totally, I get you. Dubbed Metz track for ages innit.
Yeah Syro is DRY! I like it but it definitely lacked something that the Tuss oozed with.

No one mentioning the new The Cure album yet?

Not sat and listened to it yet but I’ve liked what I’ve heard on the wireless.

But headphones have zero natural reverb. That’s what I mean - by playing it there, it’s not just about playing a record. It’s about using a space to enhance the audio. More of an art installation (which is obvious when you think about the location) than a record playback event.

Om and Sunn(((O))) are fun but deffo more overrated.
Sunn were wicked live. But lacked that AFX reverb.

:kissing_heart:

Listened to it on Saturday all the way through and found it really uninspiring. I hope I grow to like it but I can’t see it atm.

I think it sounds like how people who’ve never really listened to them imagine they sound. If that makes sense.

Aw. I think it sounds exactly how I’d expect them to sound in 2024

Didn’t know about this. Like track 1 so far

Saw Ex Easter Island Head again on Saturday night at a local venue. Always amazing!
