Purposely didn’t watch any stuff about this or read about it till I could watch the whole thing.
That was an amazing tribute, moving the bench to the top of the bank to kerb at the new park with Jamie’s footprints was a lovely touch.
I’m sure many of us were part of a group of friends like this growing up skating and to lose someone in an accident like that most have been horrendous and confusing so can relate somewhat. Nice how you reconnected back into the scene as it’s a special bond you all had. Feel it with a bunch of my homies too
Not gunna lie, shed a little tear at the end when it mentioned Gordon’s passing and asking you to look after the park.
You could see how proud he was in the raffle clips with what he’d had there to auction off and trying to keep your community together.
Done a magnificent job here and Jamie would be proud of this I am sure.
Not to delve into it as it’s not the point here, but read up about the pilots background and his actions were appalling. I hope there were serious changes at aviation authorities following this.
You’ve hit the nail on the head with your comments!
I was deliberately brief when touching on Robert’s story for a couple of reasons.
It’s a story about Jamie, and a way to honour what he gave us during his short life.
I could only go into so much detail for legal reasons. It’s not an investigation, but I’d like to think I’ve given people enough information to want to find out a bit more about Robert’s history.
His actions are unforgivable, and the crash report (which you can easily find online) is very clear in detailing his failures as a pilot. His story is its own tragedy, riddled with poor choices.
Like you say, I hope that people within the aviation world have taken note so that something like this never happens again.
Finally watched last night, so good! I really resonated with the small town crew vibe, coming from a similar background I felt it captured that perfectly.
Really well done x
Thank you @Schrodingers_tits ! I’m so glad that all of that came through. I had quite a lot of tunnel vision when putting it together, so I enlisted some friends at work and my better half to help me out with the structure. I’m so surprised at how it’s organically reaching people!
Over 5k views on YouTube now, Companion and Bristol247 have very kindly posted it on their sites.
I’ve reached out to other skate outlets to post because I think it would resonate with so many skateboarders of all ages, but I’ve been cool-guy’d by them like I always have been… Nothing ever changes does it, ha!
There’s a screening of MFWD for the Emersons Green community next weekend (31st of May).
Posting here just in case anyone is at a loose end!
The council have been very supportive in making this happen, and are plastering this poster all over the local skateparks, schools and community centres, so I’m hoping for a half decent turn out.
Edit: Forgot to mention that it’s free and there will be refreshments.
