Well, that seems pretty logical to me as the spots he talks about have all been around for 3 decades if not longer, gives more depth and context to their historical importance, plus Ted is 48, he’s not gonna talk about hammers he saw on TikTok, is he?
did Ted fall in the sand before filming this?
Not this this detracts from how good this episode and this series is but, this deviation from the Standard format is to advertise the new Thrasher x FTC drop, right?
Well spotted. Not as interesting as the usual episodes as missing the architectural history angle. Nice to hear from Kent, I’ve been in a few times over the years and he seems a good guy. And I didn’t know the name stood for Free Trade Center, I always thought it was For The City
Got mad respect for FTC, they did us a solid when we stopped by.
I always assumed ‘fuck the cops’ / ‘for the city’ too
Fabricant The Michael Fabricant
Really good. I started trying to find the location of the art installation on Google maps then wondered what the fuck I’m doing with my life ![]()
What the fuck AM I doing with my life?
Found it via the striped water tower and a bit of Google - but Google AI was completely incorrect telling me it was by FDR and the striped tower in the Naval yard, talking about lens compression from the video and all kids of utter bullshit. It did get the general area of south Philadelphia but a few miles away. Yes, I am sometimes fucking mental.
Awesome. Shame there’s nothing for me to search for on maps ![]()
CMOAC alert: when I went there last summer, Ted told me how Miles Silvas needed 4 or 5 people checking various traffic lights and had to slalom through old Chinese men playing mahjong on Portsmouth Square to try his kickflip over Duffy’s gap which made every single attempt a mission in itself, then after that I went closer to the gap and it was 17 times gnarlier than it looked from the bridge.
Sorry for the word salad, heat wave and beer, blablabla.
