New skateparks and plazas

Anyone skated the Palace park?

You could do far worse than just make this the standard blueprint for all council parks

I’ve skated there a couple of times. Its ground is really nice granite slabs and everything seems really solidly built.

I really love the double sided granite slippy curb (I’m old of course I would). My one criticism is that the slappy curb is only a metre and a bit away from the bowl. They could easily have put more space between them.

The new flo skatepark is nearly complete in the old eagle centre market.

Turns out thr council have just approved plans to redevelop that part of town.

Am I being daft in thinking new Flo will be short lived then?

Planning concent last for 3 years, but they won’t start work until they have enough backing from developers to start work.

All depends if everything is ready to go.

Apparently they have a 10 year lease in the old market hall.

Canvas are starting on this on Monday. It’s a 15 min walk from my house. Just a shame it’s in the opposite direction to town/the shop. The current outdoor park we have is literally a 5 min skate away from the shop. Also this was planned way before I opened the shop so I can’t take any credit, someone did come in who works on the council and used to skate and said once he heard about the project he pushed for this design over others. He said if they had got their way we would have just had a concrete circle to round on.

If only you had some kind of four wheeled toy to get you there.

Looks pretty decent to me, could be better of course but I’d be happy if that was my local.

Mellow transitions :check_mark:

Let us know how things go.

Would you use a Reform politician who was very recently banned from the Senedd for using racial slurs if it means securing funding for a new park?

A village near me seems close to getting 150k for a new park which would obviously be great for me but they’ve just posted a visit from a local scumbag who’s trying to promote it…

I have no idea whether the people involve know who she is, know who she is and support her or know who she is and don’t care as long as the ends justify the means.

They’ve also posted a video from a visit from out Labour MP so I think they’re just trying anything they can to get the word out, but still…

If the park itself isn’t reliant on this person’s direct support… perhaps a quiet letter to the people involved explaining how that person’s viewpoints are completely against the ethos of skateboarding (with an explanation and examples) and that while you want to see it come to fruition you’re disappointed to see their involvement. Might stop them doing it again at least

I’m always surprised by how many people are quite ignorant to what ‘politicians’ say and do, and just automatically think all people in a place to represent a party must be some what morally sound and vetted.

I feel people think it’s a given that kind of cert is happening

Yeah that sounds sensible.

I was going to contact them to see what was happening and also if I could have any input on the design.

If they get it and put in curved ledges, rainbow rails, bumps in the floor and six foot spines I’ll cry.
