New skateparks and plazas

Yeah I was bit disappointed by that too, especially given the kerbs in that new one in Hainault. With that said, Barnsley park looks amazing. Might go on Sunday so will report back

Looks unsealed. Is sealing not a thing in the uk?

Yeah yeah Barnsley, it might look all posh and exciting but it’s nothing compared to Sheffield’s newest skatepark

This looks infinitely more fun than the Barnsley park

You’re welcome to it, assuming they don’t get stolen for scrap metal.

Quick overview from some different angles.

Ahh so looks like there is a curb / manny pad in the small bit next to that little sloping spined sausage thing

That does look very good. The gap into the road looks like the best bit.

Why does it look so rough though? Or is it a bit of an illusion?

Interesting piece in today’s Observer on the poor standard of uk skateparks. They missed a trick not including a pic of that new Anstey monstrosity.

The breakdown of the survey adds a little detail about regional distribution of skateparks:

Surprised the north east only has 54! I must have visited a lot of them.

So everyone went on a jolly and all we got is a bar graph that is probably already out of date .

I understand skateboard gb’s whole approach is geared towards competition but viewing the worth of a park /diy thorough the lens of modern competition will squeeze the last dregs of joy from skateboarding

Doesn’t look sealed , looks rough from a distance too.

Probably fine to ride will find out soon hopefully

They used local skate orgs (Skate Nottingham, Shred the North etc.) to do the counting in each area. And this was mainly an ‘audit’ - so about scoping and gaining some sense of what’s actually out there, which has never been done before.

But agree that the emphasis on competition-standard skateparks is a little worrying. Isn’t Concrete Waves in Newquay pretty on par with comp standards?

Ah fair enough.

Use that skatepark finder website on road trips but it seems patchy at best

Need a digital version of the old R.a.d spot guide

Talking of spot guides did anyone else have this?
Trekked to some ropey stuff because of this bastard.
