I guess the idea with a pump track like that is you can use it on a bike, skateboard, whatever. That one’s a weird layout though.
I think this was a Maverick build. I reckon they just built it for proof of concept that they could show local councils what they can do. It’d be a nice addition to a skatepark to keep all the scooters happy, maybe?
Church Crookham has the a bit of it.
Seems a bit of a waste of space, when the middle of the loop could be filled in to make it more interesting.

Maverick and Gravity do that a lot. Apparently it allows for more obstacles, but that just sounds daft to limit the flat and create a winter mudbath or gravel pit, like in Cardiff Barrage.
Its actually subliminal government design so everyone has to take the same line and not think independently. Wake up sheeple

That’s one hell of a carve to get all the way around and not lose speed and just slowly roll in to the grass.
The same with the first one you’d spend 90% of your time retrieving your board back from grass/mud and getting wet feet, fun.
That Church Crookham carve section works. The transition holds you all the way around and you can slingshot out of it, but the park is too small for the speed you can generate.
Hmm yeah, both ways are firing you out into nothing really then.
I dunno Chas, I could picture you totally clearing that block from the flat with that speed!
Been working on renovating the park in Hove (Brighton) for a while now. Going for more of a plaza vibe as there’s fuck all like that around here. This is the first draft which has been received very positively, I think it could still be improved though

Looks sick man. Used to live in Brighton 96-00 and there was basically only level and seafront to skate. This park would be amazing
Yeah it was pretty bare around here for a long time. There’s shitloads of parks around now but they’re all pretty similar and try to cater to a bit of everything. I can see why there aren’t more ‘specialised’ parks around. If you go purely off feedback from the locals you just end up with the same old shit every time as people just throw their personal preference at you.

That makes sense though. Having a “specialist” park, like one that’s bowl based or pump based (Sibbarp) or plaza based or whatever does depend on the guarantee of further funding down the line for those other diverse parks, which depends on leadership and political will. If you’re one of the main people involved in steering the park’s design, you really have to stick to your guns. No park will ever be perfect and it’s a lot easier for the morons to shoot abuse from the sides without ever contributing themselves. One thing to bear in mind is that the silent majority are usually happy with what they’re presented with, while the complainers represent themselves alone.

Yeah definitely, we’re preparing for some backlash. Although luckily we put out a consultation form and 85% of respondents liked the design, so we’ve got a boris johnson level majority to Get Plaza Done

We get new skateparks here but there’s only one Swiss company that makes skateparks, every council works with them and they suck ass. Every park is a fucking bowl with a flat bar, a ledge and another silly little thing around it. When you get there, there’s 3 people skating the bowl and 20 trying to skate the flat bar and the ledge. It’s kinda depressing.
Went to the new Watford/Oxhey park today. V V good
