Nine Club

These are my thoughts on this episode before I watch it:

  • Saiz as I remember was shoe’d into the bones brigade as they wanted a mini ramp skater on the team
  • Despite him being on one of the most beloved, high profile teams in the world I cannot remember a single trick, photo or video section he’s been in (edit I think I remember an ad with him and he’s wearing shorts and got white airwalks on?)
  • I did have his mini ‘buffalo’ board (which I had to redrill as the nose was pitifully short at the time) which was at the pinnacle of powell’s shit graphics era
  • However I think I’ve actually got one of his totem boards in black dip in the loft somewhere which is super nice.

…so overall, a completely forgettable career.

Will this nine club make me change my mind about him?

He was in the rubber boys section of public domain so he gets a thumbs up from me.
Not enough to watch this mind.

This could go one of a few ways.
Someone let me know if it’s worth it.

will check this out obvs.
expecting many recommendations on that jazzy water, and minimal barn-burning

enjoying this.
Sanch and Koston proposed super co? cor
6 minutes of footage from 1991 lost in the mix - oof.

Chris and Jeron launched straight into asking about skating for Real and then leaving for Blind which was not an easy way into the interview for someone unfamiliar with that era. Henry, as he admits, hasn’t got a good memory and he isn’t the most talkative. The hosts needed to provide a bit more structure to the conversation.

i like the nine club but Chris really doesn’t help himself does he. they’ve been doing this for years and he still isn’t capable of structuring any interview very well (or they edit really badly ((or both)))

the hosts were deffo fanning out, and also shocked they’d actually got him on the show.

took a while, but he did open up with some gems.
yours sincerely,
a fan

Somebody make a thread for this Sanchez episode please - I can only post of my phone at the moment.

He is so historically important - deffo needs hype, not languishing in here.
Ta

Mainly because fuck Chris Roberts for not knowing that Jeff Klindt is dead.
Dont need angry Ewok in a thread with Roberts name in the title

Can we get rid of that guy’s name from the thread title? Honestly sick of seeing it and obviously he brings absolutely fuck all to any interview they do.

Easily done.

did my best with the Santarossa one, but the hosts seemed to get stuck in hashing out sponsorship timeline, then got bored. ah well

Yeah, the Nine Club showed me that I don’t need to know about everyone’s life story, a long time again, the same way Thrasher proved that you can have too much skate footage. Both I’d have thought impossible years ago. Captain pinball questioning, hoping something hits or at least hides his lack of knowledge is just not worth sitting through for me these days. It should be up to the host to make each show great, not sat fingers crossed that the guest is funny and charismatic enough to carry the whole thing.

i guess encouraging the sponsorship timeline is good if the skater isn’t too forthcoming with stories; I’ve been a fan of Santarossa since his Radlands win, and reading he was a massive stoner in Big Brother…
ah, maybe that explains the less-than-compelling stories

Yeah, a big fan too, remember him switching tre’ing the Radlands funbox at the British champs… at the time amazing.

the switch 360 attempt afterwards was all sorts of brilliant too

Jesus, Mike santarossa riding for think is something I seemingly buried away.

Can’t do the nine club purely due to Kelly.
Last one I did was J Lee. Before that, god knows. Such a shame because it was such a highlight of my week for a good while there.
