Not Stoked.

What’s a good way to do this, nowadays? Now that you can’t just ring up and order ten pizzas to somebody’s house.

Free PS5, unwanted present. Giving away because it has no box. First person to show up gets it.

Although maybe posting his phone number would waste less people’s time.

Yer don’t want to mug others off.

I’ll do what I did before - grade 8 Piano, Trumpet teacher.

But that’s a reasonable thing to seek out. Anybody thinking they’re getting a free PlayStation deserves to be mugged off by some fuming wanker.

Surely you just want to fuck with his shit and not dick over other people?

Just want to do something that batters his phone for a bit like he has mine. Multiple times every day for the last 10 days.

Refused to give a reference in a word document format for my new place.

And the next person that lives there is paying an extra £200 a month than I was poor fucker.

Is it just me or are skate mags really boring now?

The other day I picked up Grey, Free, North and Vague.

Only noticable difference is the paper stock

Features:

  • Small not quite a magazine, not quite a zine format
  • Lofi black and white text layout that shouts “don’t bother reading this”
  • Interview with european male, portrait sitting on some steps, then 6 pages of tastefully desaturated obscure bangers, shot from half a mile away, mainly wallies and drop ins
  • No discernable opinion or editorial voice

Just attempting debate really, no actual offence intended, and maybe it’s unfair to compare with the classic mags of yore

I picked up a copy of free on my trip to the uk in May and still haven’t given it any proper attention. Had a brief flick through, but it’s very underwhelming.

I find Free very difficult to read. I can see they are trying to do something different typographically, but it makes it almost illegible at times.

Bath tap has been leaking and I can’t fix it properly because my main stop tap has broken and so has the stop tap to the Bathroom, no way of turning the water off apart from at the road but the thing is too deep for the rod I have and it turns off 2 neighbours water too.
I know it was just a replacement cartridge job so I started to take it apart and because it’s in the bath I thought if I put all the other taps on then less water gets to these and I could switch the cartridge with minimal water pissing out. But the allen bolt was fucked, eventually it undid but then the tap fell apart, snapped inside. Was stuck on hot and full blast so had to do something. Drilled into the plastic rod and stuck a screw in so I could turn it to cold and then rock it to off. Then off to buy a new tap/mixer/shower set. I’d boxed in the bath years ago so had to smash tiles, cut timber all expecting a damp mess behind, which it was. Now I need new hoses as these are fucked so I guess I have to be prepared to get wet.

I had another look through the mags, there’s obviously lots of good stuff in all of them, maybe I’m just stuck in the more lairy mag era, the new stuff is more subtle which is fair enough

I felt that about Skateboarders Companion at first, I tried to enjoy reading it but it felt too aimed at a younger audience. But actually that’s no fault of SC, that’s just me getting older and wanting something more substantial - if anything, it’s good that there’s something out there that is more accessible and orientated to beginners and younger skaters. Some of the photography has been a bit basic though and I HATE their paper stock

North feels less like a magazine and more like a zine, as you say. Always feel it needs a bit more content to bulk it out. It’s free though right(?), so can’t really knock it.

I’ve enjoyed Vague, though haven’t read it for a while and not sure of the timelines so might be off, but feel it gets copied by others, at least visually

Trying to strip an old mtb down into a single speed, front chain rings weren’t riveted just nuts and bolts but my adapter for sockets went MIA so I nipped out early to get one. Got back popped em all out, went to take the cranks off in order to remove the chain rings and didn’t have the right socket. Wasn’t 100% sure on size but it looked around 13mm, flew down my uncles to loan his set which had a 13mm. Got back, didn’t fit and realized it was actually 15mm. Popped to my other uncles to check his sockets, no 15mm then I remembered a pal works in a garage 2 mins away. Finally sourced a 15mm, got home and realized the drive side was half inch not quarter.

Two hours of doing laps of my town trying to find a 15mm socket and it suddenly occurs to me that truck kingpins are 15mm and I’ve had a fucking t tool sitting a stones throw away all day…

Im away next week and the weather forecast looks utter shit. Seems to be improving but still. Getting early home vibes. Wont be the first. Or second. Had three good breaks so far this year so daft to complain really.

Sciatica seems to be holding on so no dicking about on a skateboard for the minute, but thats sort of gave me a bit of focus on my car.

I also think I did some damage to my elbow last time i skated. It still wrecks if i knock it or lean on it. Might be elbow pad for lyfe now.

Grumble grumble moan moan etc
