YT algorithm doing its thing. After watching the Glen E Friedman Nine Club it just spat this Hal Jepsen raw footy out at me.
I couldn’t be arsed to come up with a description myself so here’s the Youtube one.
This footage has been described as SkateBoarder Magazine on video. Raw archival footage of Kenter Banks, Paul Revere Banks, Keyhole, 1975 Del Mar Nationals contest, Marina Del Rey Skatepark, various other skateparks, 1960’s school yard banks, Desert Pipes, Pepsi Skateboard Team demos, and so much more. A lot of the footage was used in the making of the “Dogtown and Z-Boys” documentary by Stacy Peralta.
This is pretty old! 19th July 1994, Top Bank at the Deaner, Bristol. Wes Morgan, Woody, me, my brother Jam and Stu Burke who could do everything regs and switch. Also a quick cameo from my mate Oz, who filmed it and has recently sent me a load of old VHS footage of varying quality.
(Aha, it worked after changing /reel/ to /p/ as suggested.)
The photo was taken in Cherry Willingham, just outside Lincoln. The far right hand corner was wood framed and surfaced up the middle, so the full bath wasn’t complete.
Based on the building in the background this would be early about 1983/84 when a member of the village playing field committee had decided to try and drive the skaters out by smashing holes in the flat sections, which were being patched with concrete.
I skated with him on that ramp a year or two after that I think and he was amazing. That ramp was so sick to skate. I used to love going to the Botley bowl too.
This might have been posted on N26, maybe not, James (aka Schoolboy to some of you I guess) shared it with us a good decade ago as basically a footage dump from tape. Random mid-90’s footage from Chester and Leeds, filmed by a mixture of what would have been the crew I skated with and the Leeds guys. James and his brother Gaz being the crossover as they went to Leeds Uni.
Some of this made up our scene vid for 1997. To be honest I think old skool as pre-90s so it didn’t occur to me to chuck it up in here.
I only skated Leeds a handful of times back then. The non-Leeds footage is basically our Chester crew who by and large I still speak to daily and am really close friends with to this day.
Be interesting to see who can reel off some names in this one haha.
Haha, yeah, that’s them. There’s a fair bit of Northwich in there and the original ‘96 Boneyard too. Owain is the lad doing tricks down the steps at the bottom of one of the rows (shopping centre entrance towards the Grovenor IIRC).
Loads of good memories for me in this, no music which gives me EE0 thoughts haha
Haha not sure if James had EE0 in mind. I think he just dumped out footage from his tapes. Muska/illusion flips everywhere. That back 180 Russ/Weasel does in Northwich where Ad focusses his board after was rad. First try IIRC.
