The Celine Dion bit was good. The last 4 minutes.

The confused boat trips with Rafa, Carl Lewis and Serena and the smurf mans ballbag on show…not so much.

On to the sport.

That boat trip where no one either on or off the boat seemed to know what was going on was so bizarre. I liked the ceremony. It was different. It was all over the place and must’ve been a nightmare to film (hence all the pre recorded bits)

More importantly it had Gojira chained to a castle with beheaded French aristocracy below. Most metal stage ever. Almost spinal tap

Mate Carl Lewis was like mate wtf am I doing on this boat.

He genuinely did seem a bit confused where he was and where they were going.

The whole thing was a fairly decent spectacle but diluted across one of the most recognisable cities in the country that apparently has the most visitors in the whole world. Anything they did was always going to look weak against the backdrop of Paris. The whole reason other opening ceremonies looked so good was because they were up
against a bland athletics stadium.

The Silver Horse was long.

I used to think this.

But then I realise my own kids mum is Maltese and it doesn’t cross my mind at all that they’re half Maltese because all they know is living in England, and their mum has a slight Mediterranean accent.

Had Sky been raised here I’d not consider her American.

She gets a pass on this from me now.

Sorry, might of missed this earlier in the thread, is it on regular TV or will I need to sign up to something to watch it today?

Sky customers can get discovery+ which seems to allow you to watch what you like.

I think were at the mercy of the BBC otherwise so they’re going to show anything with a British interest over anything else.

Not sure I follow your logic there and I don’t think anyone really needs a ‘pass’ either. It’s just an option some people can pursue and sport is not an easy career path to take so if it helps then good luck to them.

It’s Saturday morning and I’m grumbling about the scoring in womens 3m synchro diving. The Olympics have started.

There’s too much sport on.

I’ve started my couch commentary as if I know all about this stuff…

My wife commented on the swimsuits. I find the American cook’n’bacon a marketable name pairing.

The skateboarding has been postponed until the 29th.

I remember watching Tokyo games in France and French tv was terrible for this

Meh. Makes sense. No one wants to watch a random heat without a GB athlete in it.

Forgot to bet on this
