In the end Fox and Deacon didn’t seem to think so. H&M on the other hand…
And? His modelling career seemed to do well for him. Can’t front on that.
Hating on his (or anyone elses) modelling career is such a weird thing. “Look at his beautiful fucking face how dare he agree to model things with his good looks, what a kook”
The Michael Fabricant’s gorgeous. Some people are, if you’re one of them too more power to you. Make the most of it before you get all old and weird looking like everyone else. If there was a bigger modelling market for 14 stone ginger lumps and someone was offering me money to wear clothes (something I do regularly for free) you better believe Id be chewing their arm off.
Didn’t he have a clip out last year? Who was the filmer in Bath that amazing edits for Jasper King-Harmon and Nordberg in.
Think it begins with a W? @anonymity

That was nice.
James Whitlock
Not for me to dictate how he should skate, but I feel like he sort of ‘chose’ wrongly when he went there. Suffice to say we were all hyped when he was based here and those sick Bath edits emerged of him and JKH skating the ledge and that mini. Then, when he went to California and released his Flip part, he seemed to just solely replicate what everyone else was doing during that awful era of banklet-ditch skating doing stalls and spin-in/spin-out shit on 4 foot banks. It all just merged into one very forgettable time in skating that has luckily been left behind (except, seemingly, for Cody Mc…). Despite that, it still seems hard to separate him from that period.
Anyway, I’m rambling, and he’s clearly still massively gifted and probably enjoys his life immensely, but I just feel he could have filmed his parts skating more interesting obstacles/terrain and probably would have made a much more impactful career. I’m thinking of the differing trajectories of him and Louie Lopez.
That was my (badly worded, half formed) point. Flip didn’t turn him pro in the end and H&M picked him up and that turned out to work out quite well. Also, I’m in no position to take the piss out of people for modelling as I had a few stints of doing it myself. Money for old rope is certainly not something to complain about.
He did try and get gnarlyer at one point in the US. But he had a horrific leg break. He sort of retreated into bank/stall skating thereafter.
It’s not like he’s a prick either, Nordberg’s always been sound to me and can laugh at himself so good for him.
Some nice tricks in that welcome part. I’ll stick it in the footage thread.
He’s got a full length video coming out soon. The clips I have seen so far for it are amazing, plus Whitlock is such a good filmer and all-round lovely bloke.
Easy target though. Skating needs a healthy amount of pisstaking, if male models aren’t an acceptable target I don’t know who is! Team handsome etc etc.
There’s a lot of good instaberg content, he likes cruising round parks being chill and doing wicked hard stuff, it’s good to watch.
Thank you all. Whitlock!
Loved his edits, always sick filming and song choices. What video is he making, whose in it?
Woah woah woah. You don’t get to chuck that in casually and not elaborate.
It’s called Bolts as far as I’m aware… the insta handle for their output is @boltsinc.
I’m not sure of the full list of people involved, but I know that Francis and Jasper have footage in it.
Nothing too spectacular really. Just got some work after having a portrait photo of me entered in a portrait of the year comp way back. Ended up on some billboards and sides of buses.
Then a couple of years later was ‘spotted’ walking about Covent Garden and did a catwalk show for a fairly well known Japanese designer. I had friends in fashion/ photography and got roped in to magazine shoots for various things. Mostly streetwear kind of stuff not haute couture. I did do some things for a sailing clothing company too. I was never doing it in a professional capacity- just a side hustle, as the kids say (reportedly). I worked with people, mostly girls, who were the real deal - Storm agency etc.
I remember one time I turned up to a shoot based at a restaurant and was told that I couldn’t come in because they were closed due to there being a fashion shoot going on. It took some convincing on my part for them to let me in because the female models were already there and they were very clearly models. I polish up ok but I’m not exactly Dylan Rieder.
Over time I got paid a bit, got a few free lunches and dinners and a bunch of free clothes. I haven’t done anything for years now. These days I’m just waiting for the call from the people at Saga holidays to get me to do their catalogue. Bring on the exciting cruise ship deck based activities shoot.
Its not even pisstaking though, its a compliment. “Oh no, here comes Horsecock Bob” “Lookout it’s Gorgeous Dave” “Yeah! Radical Gary’s here!”
Imagine getting annoyed when people keep telling other people how good looking you are?
It’s a blessing and a curse (joke
).
