that it was actually a session with two other mythically brilliant SB skaters makes it so much better
Cates once told me that Penny was trying 540 Ollie’s down the SB seven. I’m not sure if he was messing with me or not, so have never repeated the story till now.
Frontside or backside?
Details. I’m going to blame my brain fog since my operation still, haha … and say frontside.
Urwin?
Man I remember this being a legend when I was a kid. Loved that spot and just assumed it was a lie when told that someone had ollied it until I saw the picture
This bit of Penny Mythos has been recounted to me on more than one occasion. Tom was sitting on a chair at Southbank, out of his gourd, zooming on shrooms, wearing a huge puffa jacket, beanie pulled down over his eyes, Timbs or hike boots on and in a state where he was barely able to string together a coherent sentence. He then borrowed someone’s board and proceeded to do nothing but repeatedly nollie front 180 over the aforementioned chair off the flat. Sounds bonkers so, seeing as it’s Penny, it’s probably true.
Repetitive tricks have defo always been a staple of his. I can remember him doing nothing but his trademark frontside flips for 2-3 hours. Must have been 200 of the fuckers.
Also, the thought of doing mushroons somewhere as intense as South Bank is the stuff of nightmares, especialky as it used to be so much rougher back then!
The hat is more appealing than the deck, but rad nonetheless.

Wasn’t there a still of him switch tre-ing the same spot, or am I getting mixed up?
Pretty sure he did a switch tre on it.
Switch hards too iirc
He was trying them switch! Switch front 5’s, putting them down at 420 but couldn’t quite get all the way around. Mental
Ha… not sure if intentional, but
Sooooo sick.
That trick name is so wrong.
If you’ve done a fakie 180 into a trick, you cannot do a fakie 180 out of it.
Yet it’s so good
