this is another reason why it’s never been hyperbolic to talk about tom in the reverential way that people still do. the skate industry is so thirsty for content, even back then - mags were 250 pages +, everybody needed ads, photos etc etc and tom was still one of the most famous skaters on the planet.
imagine that context and then doing a trick that mental but nobody saw it for 20 years. not-giving-a-fuck taken to a transcendent level.
You have to massively respect that.
The closest you get these days is someone not having Instagram
yep. that counts as borderline aberrant humility these days.
Manzoori bigging up Sidewalk on The Nine Club stoked me out
FTFY. I am old.
good timing,
was just about to send this to a pal
Some info on that photo here, and ownership opportunities…
Fuck me. This is so cool.
Also #cmoac Pierre (dude taking the photos) is really nice too
Yeah man knowing that Penny skates most days and seeing him smiling like that is so cool as he’s been through darker times.
Footage of him is always inspiring.
Yeah. No hyperbole needed. Tom is the truth on every level. I love seeing this era of him.
I watched it and didn’t see Tom once? Eh?
/camo joke
At 3:17 I was daydreaming that he’d do the famous downhill school line
100%
Seeing him be a total skate rat, skating all the time, and having his skill at a pretty reasonable/tasteful level for an almost 50 year old is sick.
Loved all of that. That was no nollie though
Probably filmed by Danny Minnick who made videos not that many people saw back then.
It was Theo Hand, he has more of the lines, from this day, on his Insta account.
Thrasher posted some of the clips in this.
Ah yeah you’re right! Thanks.
