didnt he have a slam in one of the big brother videos, landed to primo kicklflipping some steps into a road and nearly got run over??? have not seen any of them videos for years so this maybe incorrect

I’ve seen a few slams. I remember someone talking about him taking about a pretty big one in a mag. They were saying how it’s like he just naturally expects his board to be under his feet no matter what, and it usually is that’s why he lands most things that some people might kick away but one time something went wrong and his board wasn’t there, didn’t keep up with him, spinning off in an unexpected way, that can happen and because he was that used to it being there he wasn’t as prepared as most people would for the slam, he came out of the blue to him and hit the ground hard down some stairs (it might of been because he had just picked up someone’s else’s board to skate and hadn’t even tested it?).

some of the stuff he rides away from in that menikmati extras video is insane. not because it was necessarily sketchy but i just don’t understand how he rolls away. there’s clearly no doubt whatsoever that he’ll keep on rolling

God I loved those wheels where there were no wheels just bearings. Remember skating pavement in those shits? Clack, clack, clack, clack

Edit - dreamy photo too. Such height, so penny

Didn’t Bullet offer a free set if you got them down to a certain size?
Probably one of those daft rumours in my area started by an elder for the gullible to lap up, like me.

I can remember people actually lathing their wheels on purpose to make them even smaller than they already were. Literally 3-4mm of rubber around a bearing, just to get their Ron Knigge on.

I once made a set of small wheels from a set of green Rat Bones. But I didn’t have a lathe. So I got a drill and drilled holes around the circumference of the wheels (no guide, just eyeballed it).I then joined the holes up with a hacksaw to make whe wheels round(ish). Ended up with possibly the worst set of home made small wheels ever. Looked something like this, but green:

Think I ‘finished them off’ with one of those belt sanders. But as you can imagine they weren’t as smooth as I’d planned in my head.

Did I skate them?

Yes.

For weeks.

Bet those rode great!

It was like having blind bumps built into the wheel

Also lathed wheels down in the tech department at school. They were round-ish but still super wide so they looked stupid.

Yes! Wheels that were wider than they were tall. But it was all so worth it to land a triple flip at 2mph, once.

Hahaha, you fucking idiot!

just found 3 more pics from the Board X session in 97. as the first one was a bail and the other two were not clear i never really looked at them again but actually is good for them to see the light of day just for another angle of the hiking boots, and the top picture shows really how far down his hat was pulled over his eyes
middle one could still be a make?
bottom one - looking at it now i think is probably a pop shuv and may well be a make.

as these are scanned from the negatives, i also saw that the huge backside ollie picture was actually the first photo of the ramp after i walked in from taking pictures outside, with these ones just after it, so if i had come inside a few minutes later i would probably have missed it, also explains why its shot from the floor and not from the platform
