Phones Thread

I hated Android phones for ages and there are some absolute howlers of handsets out there. But I converted from being an apple fan. I just can’t justify the cost and lack of flexibility. And, again, the camera on this thing is so good. Wife has new iPhone and comparing photos is night and day. She doesn’t have patience for Android though.

Apple stuff is OK if you want to lock yourself into Apple environments by buying their other products.
It’s too locked in for my liking.

Don’t ever think about what phone I have and generally not even aware what model iPhone I have. Always iPhone though can’t be bothered to shop around. Just bought a new one because I wanted it to charge wirelessly and my old one didn’t. It’s the top of the range one. It’s ok feels just like my last one but the top corner is now even further away from my thumb and it knows what I look like now.

Not trying to be a badass but I honestly haven’t noticed any progression in phones for years. iPhone 5s was peak technology as far as I’m concerned. It fit your hand, it had a decent screen, and it did the internet.

I agree. My last iPhone was the 5SE, which I swapped out from a 6S. 6S was too big. But now I don’t skate any more and have a kid all I care about is taking photos and battery life.

It was this.

that’s at least £750… because you wanted wireless charging?

This is the typical Apple ‘I’m a 1%-er’ attitude that is pissing everyone off from Apple.

There is really only a requirement for NFC that would necessitate an upgrade from a 5s.

Let’s see what they do in September - it looks like only camera upgrades.

Ok but I hadn’t upgraded for about 3 years and I buy my phone as a business expense. Most people in my position probably get a new phone every time one comes out. I CBA. Wireless charging was worth it to me because now I have a car with it built in but nothing else has been.

@Cmac I really didn’t get the impression from @ultimateLAD he was giving it the big ‘I am’

Re wireless charging a girl I used to see before I got married was super hyped because she got a bedside table with built in wireless charging. But she didn’t even have wireless charging on her phone. Aaaah, how we both lol’d

Maybe I should have said the model name instead of ‘the top of the range one’ but I don’t actually know what it’s called haha.

At work I can get any phone. I’ve always had apple but tried a huwaii (probably spelt it wrong) and seriously battery life and camera are in another league. Took a while to get used to not using ios but now apple would seriously have to up there game to win me back.

Does make you wonder about Trump banning Huawei :cn: as they gobble up sales from Apple :us:.

daaamn that’s nuts. we have an echo and it’s so weird being able to play back your requests

DV clearance interviews have people in tears though.
They’re especially strict.
That reminds me, I need to send in my SC clearance application.

What do you do that needs all this clearance @Mush

Yeh DV clearance is pretty strict. They check financal history and stuff. And you have to have a referee. Some even come to your house to observe you as well.

One guy was the referee for someone and he got asked does he watch porn. And he said yes I was fixing a video player for him and there was a porno in there. Nothing out the ordinary he said.

And when we got his clearance again they asked if he had ever paid for sex and he replied well yes I’ve been married 25 years and they didn’t look too kindly on that
