Has anyone ever been to one of those << insert random artist / genre >> “orchestra version” gigs?
There’s been house ones for a while, a grime one in Manchester recently & I’ve just been emailed this Dre one in er, Southport. Are they just a covers band-style blag? Who is the audience?!
I would be on that if it was in Brum!
My mate was playing double bass in the Ibiza classics one at MK last year (maybe the year before actually). Went to the skate prem at theatre then did mushrooms and went to that. Very odd time tbh
This orchestra performed exactly this show in 2019 in Nottingham. Really it’s just a live band with some string players and a brass section. I didn’t go - this is just secondhand info.
The way it was aggressively promoted via social media made me think it was a scam at first (like those Facebook event pages that promote ‘Total Wipeout tour’ and just harvest people’s data).
do we have anyone on here involved with skateboard gb? is LA still around?
Yeah @LA deffo still lurks and posts
Went to the Hacienda Classical a few years back, it was wicked. Great laugh. Basically acid house classics with everybody going bonkers like a karaoke session with a few thousand others. Cream Classical in the Liverpool Cathedral looked pretty good when I saw it on YT, it gets a regular blast when I’m working on Fridays.
And one other thing I’d say is that the sounds used in acid house are usually derived from many orchestral instruments, so it works really well. Smiling faces all round.
Don’t know where else to put this masterpiece.

Zammo’s OD in Fuzzy Felt.
One for the less youthful members.
“Steamlyannaya Hamonika (1968) depicts the isolation and brutalization of humans in modern bourgeois society. Although being broadly in line with other art-as-propaganda of the era, censors felt it could easily be read as a criticism of the party, leaving this subversive short as the only animated film to be banned in the Soviet Union.”
It’s been moved to when I’m on holiday in Greece!!! Yesssssss.
