Never dawned on me either.

I’ve always pronounced Quim as Kim. Not sure why though.

He says his full name in his rap in EE3. Not sure I noticed that at the time, but when you see it again you’ll hear it.

I’ve definitely heard him pronounce it as kwim

Feels like yesterday but also a lifetime ago

I have to buy a TV and am gonna see what I can get with those Black Friday offers. Any brands I should avoid? I’m not fussy, I just want one of those modern TVs for a decent price. Thanks.

I am in the exact same boat. It’s on one of the junior clackers’ xmas lists.

Team Samsung here. Got one in the back room that’s almost fifteen years old and the newer one is brilliant too.

Good to hear. Ta.

Saw a JVC that seems close to what I need for a decent price, I’ll go check it out at the store tomorrow and will ask if there might be any special discount later in the week.

Smart TVs are sometimes useful, like ours is a Phillips android and we have an app on there for the kids bedroom webcam, and YouTube, and Kodi. But a bog standard screen with a Chromecast whacked on will do 90% of that anyway. I’d just get one to fit your size/decor nicely and go off Amazon reviews tbh. Also if you like nice sound/audio, check if it’s got outputs for your kit etc

Also have a Phillips, the ambilights are cool, but the android smart features are sluggish so use an Apple TV box instead 10x better.

I’ll second @markg and say Samsung. IMO they do the best tvs around the £500 mark. If you’re going over 1k then Sony have some good stuff, otherwise Samsung is where it’s at.

We went LG last time. Very happy with it…

Samsung 50inch smart TV I think.

Was like £350. 4K for PS5 was my only requirement. Been great.

Phillips ambilights are distracting and shite, first thing I did was turn them off!

My 43” Samsung QLED I have is surprisingly good for LED, bought it 3 years ago, but it was pricey for the size. No light bleed and decent enough blacks in the dark although not as good as OLED. Starting to flicker a little every now and again so it might be a warranty job.

We have two dumb TVs, one with an Apple TV and one with Chromecast. No complaints whatsoever.

Got an 8 year old Panasonic 42” smart TV which is still going strong. Gradually all the apps on it started to disappear, presumably cos their arrangement with the apps fell through. But a chromecast and a fire stick sorted that out. I know there are better quality picture TVs now but if you don’t have it you don’t miss it. My brother in law seems to be locked into a cycle of updating his perfectly good massive TV every 2-3 years just cos there’s been an incremental improvement. But never hands down the old one, the twat

Stuck in a 45 minute “stand up” watching someone try to navigate a spreadsheet about some marketing BS and all I can think of is…

I used to be a product manager where had to maintain a company app on the Samsung/Phillips own TV platform.

They are very difficult to contact or get any help from and eventually we had to mothball the apps as we couldn’t guarantee security/performance for customers. Very difficult to maintain when the owner of the platform won’t communicate with you. So yes, that’s why they start to disappear.
