I’m no musician, but something on the radio just reminded me of the a I was in a beer garden and, after a round of applause, the lead (trumpeter?) of a jazz band said “thank you… but we were just tuning up”.

It sounded (to me) like a drum full of sand being dropped down a stairwell.

Mrs is going to Berlin this weekend. What’s the ‘proper’ shop to send her to?

Only been there for ‘work’ purposes before - so no fucking clue.

@Londonskater

Civilist, no?

Yup. Civilist.

Confirmed, for Neddy:

Anyone know owt about watches? Found this in the street like 15 years ago, always assumed it was fake but just just pulled it out of a draw and it’s still running, sweep hand as well …

I reckon that it’s perhaps fake, from looking at pictures of the most similar ones the bracelet doesn’t seem quite right, there’s no lume on the numbers and there’s no date magnifier.

Cheers, yeah it just doesn’t seem quite right to me. A better fake than many though since it’s still going

Some of that is shocking. The pre cooked prawns in butter, fuck

surely @hugo is resident horologist?

The one pan stuff that he posted around Christmas was pretty stomach churning. Top commentary tho.

That’s the only one I saw.

There must be a word or phrase for this where someone does something mental with food to generate outrage. It seems to be a thing on TikTok (n.b. i have never used TikTok).

I remember there was that American woman who made ‘tea’ that blew up for a bit. It was so palpably insane it wasn’t worth even giving her the oxygen of publicity.

It would be better to slate someone that’s actually trying.

Like this…err character, laying into Jamie Oliver

We stayed with my wife’s American aunty in Philadelphia about 10 years ago and she made me a cup of tea by jamming a tea bag into the coffee pod holder of her machine and giving it a run through. She did it with such confidence that I didn’t know how to handle the situation.

This might be a myth but isn’t it a thing that Americans generally don’t use kettles because thier low voltage makes them slow and annoying to use?

I think that’s a perception but not sure how true it is.

Rage bait . Loads of it And not just with food .

It’s not a new thing though, red top papers have been doing it since they were invented. Look how anti-EU headlines worked here… “They are taking away our bendy bananas!”

If your dad didn’t go to work angry after reading one at breakfast, the papers hadn’t done their job right.
