Ah come on
You know she was reading that through gritted teeth
Honestly we need her in charge of things right now. She just talks sense - the voice of the people.

My dad’s one can be a bit vague, it’s the inbuilt one in the car. He can’t really do looking at screen briefly and listening to it, so I have to co-pilot haha.

Satnav is handy but it makes it harder to lie about why you’re late for something you don’t want to be at.

“Traffic was awful”
“Hmm, looks fine on Google Maps?”

It’s also good for showing you were the rozzers are. Ye olde atlas isn’t going to do that.

I also remember printing out driving instructions back in the day and trying to read them while driving. Not safe at all haha

I definitely never did this and definitely never crashed into the back of another car whilst doing this.

I’d imagine the Venn diagram of people who voted for brexit and people who use sat-nav for every journey is v close to a circle.

You joking? Woke Interstellar objects telling them how to live their lives?

Going to stick with my great British sextant and dead reckoning fank yoo very much.

A Boring Tuesday morning is my excuse, but any technology that helps people to avoid Carmarthen can’t be bad.

Picked up some varifocals today.

Tying to see my laptop feels like I have vaseline on my eyeballs.

Not keen (apparently this could last weeks).

Yeah they do sound a bit weird to get used to. Right now I’m fine for reading, just have glasses for driving and some off the shelf readers but only for really close work. Apparently there’s such a thing as varifocal contact lenses and I just can’t understand that at all.

I was talking to a friend about contacts a few weeks back and she wears one long & one short then her brain just sorts it out. :exploding_head:

I felt the same. Raging resentment at the optician for saying I needed them. Ended up getting used to them in just over a week.

I did also end up buying a cheap(er) pair of glasses just for drawing/working/reading which are really useful.

Even normal glasses are annoying as hell, thoughts and prayers to you guys with more complex requirements. Need to book myself in come to think about it.

That gives me hope. I’m sure I’ll get used to them.

Thanks for letting me vent - my other half is getting fed up with constant analysis & moaning already.

I’ve worn them since I was 5 and I’m now in my early 30s and I can’t even consider a life without them. I don’t look like me without them, and my nose feels weird. It actually makes me slightly resent people who get laser eye surgery, internally deriding it as a waste of money. It’s such an irrational and stupid thought because if I add up how much I’d spent on glasses through my life it’d pay for itself many times over!

Anyone in London want a free ticket to see The Messthetics (Joe and Brendan from Fugazi) at 100 club tonight? I’m feeling under the weather so might skip it.

Can send you the QR code a couple of hours before doors open.

Train people…

Is etiquette worse since the pandemic?

Had a carriage this morning that I think was close to having 100% aisle sitters with their bag on the inside.

It feels like more people than not do it but I’ve bever seen such a high ratio as today, especially when there were so many people waiting to come on the train.

I could only make one tit move so I did my bit but lots of other people just stood for the duration.

Undecided as to whether or not to share this anecdote
So I’m doing it before I change my mind.

I once stood next to Joe Lally at a urinal in a club in Sheffield.
While standing there, I figured this would likely be the only opportunity I would ever get to see a Fugazi member’s… member.
So I had a quick glance over his shoulder, easily done without him noticing (he’s quite short, I’m like 5’9" or something and he was 4 or 5 inches shorter than me).
He’s packing. The man is ample. It put me to shame.
End of anecdote.
