Thought I’d pass by my old haunts of Hotel De Ville in Lyon and stoked to see a handful old heads skating about. Kind of cool to watch Flo Mirtain and Vincent Bressol just skate chill. Not sure if @anonymity remembers this name but Malik Abdelasem is rolling about too.
There’s a young lad in my office who’s a bit like this: up at 4am for cryochamber or some shit. Loves telling me about how early he gets to the gym and how his lunchtime is my breakfast.
That reminds me of this haha
Latest, I’m still total shit at swimming. Possibly even worse now im trying to follow tips. A drowning sloth would have better form
A question! Does anyone know who runs Southwest Skate Co.?
Thanks
Some sus behaviour going on in our street, dodgy van parking up with people sleeping in it and possibly a break in over the road… anyway can anyone recommend a cheapish burglar alarm? Thinking wireless self install job. Cheers
Ouch, hope everything’s gonna be alright.
The skatepark I volunteer at got broken into last night, again. Seems like the wanksatins that did it didn’t steal much and didn’t break things for the sake of breaking things which is almost cool as we’ve had to deal with far worse situations in the past.
I got a Yale one off Amazon years back, that was fine. Think it was like 2 door and 2 movement sensors, one for upstairs and downstairs. I think it’s just the alarm box that puts the teefs off, you can buy empty ones for cheap just to stick on the wall. Real one does give some peace of mind tho
Was wondering that on Saturday
Yeah fake one for the front not a bad call, might get that as well
Camera’s are probably more of a deterrent these days than a burglar alarm.
Sort of, apart from every camera ever just shows a skinny guy in a dark hooded tracksuit and a bally robbing the house. The most handy thing is the motion alerts so you can get yourself or the police down there quick. We’ve got the Ring system all over the house and it’s pretty awesome for what you pay. Can also recommend remote controlled curtain openers and light switches so you can make it look like your house is occupied from your smartphone while you’re on holiday.
On the subject of alarms and automated curtains does anyone else use home assistant for managing their place?
Back in the mid 80’s a neighbour of mine had a wall mounted alarm. Not sure if it was fake or if he was trolling but the name of the alarm company printed on it was M.T. Box security ltd.
I busted a burglar inside my house once, never got over it, now I keep a hammer by my bed
Holy shit. Was that in the uk?
At uni my mate was so paranoid that we had some kind of axe murderer on our case that he selloptaped my mum’s kitchen knives to the bottom of his bed. I used to go home most weekends because it was a bit intense living with him.
Yeah, we’d just moved out of Primrose Hill, to St Albans. Two places you never expect to get crimed.
We were stoked to move out of an ex council tower block and have some space. Literally a week after we moved I woke up to a whining dog. I got up, still half asleep, saw torch lights moving around in the living room.
But I’m still half asleep like a zombie so I just keep walking towards it. Only when I see a guy in my kitchen in all black/hood up/balaclava do I realise what’s going on.
I just started yelling and he ran away, nothing really happened but it fucked me up.
The really annoying thing is that now I’m on the other side of the world, and living in an area that when I was growing up I never would have dreamed about living in. But I’m still a bit scared to go to sleep at night.
Happened to me too! Chased that fucker across two fields but couldn’t catch him. He had all our laptops, ipads, jewellery etc. Stacked up in the garden ready to go. The only thing he took was a Japanese cooking knife I bought my lass. One of those badass steel layered £300 ones. The farmer found it in his field and gave it back to us.
Tbh it didn’t affect me, but freaked my lass out for months.
