Pointless Topics

Just remembered another one from the same job.

The local BBC weatherman came in to get his laptop fixed. He was dressed as Brent in his Sergio Giorgini jacket.

Was told no problem it will be 2-3 days to get the part and repair.

His response was “no, no, no, some of us are on TV tonight”.

He was told the weather would happen with or without him. Fucking crease about it every time I see the weather on the local news.

Ive got tons, pretty CMOAC but here’s my favourite few

Saw Tommy Lee take a piss in the corner of a club

Stood next to Paris Hilton while she washed down an Advil with a bottle of water, grabbed my hand and said “ wow that was cold”.

Saw HHH and Xpac at an airport when I was 12, was too scared to get a Suck it! crotch chop photo.

The main party I had most of my celeb encounters, I met some scruffy dude called Jason who kept giving me fags and grabbing us beer from the free bar. Talked a bit about skateboarding and life post 9/11.

Some of these are absolutely amazing, lolling hard here

There was one time where (again) I was with Pete King and we were on some Saturday morning kids show, filming at BBC Glasgow. After we did our piece we went to the car park and smoked a load of weed and then shuffled back to the green room, high as kites. Boyzone were also on the show but it was pretty early in their career and we had no idea who they were. So I’m sat next to the motorcross one and he’s trying to have a conversation with me and I’m totally baked and my eyes feel like cotton wool and he must’ve thought I was some kind of special needs guest as I could barely talk

When we got there at 5am we got accoseted by a brass in the carpark. First and last time ever in Glasgow, thank you for the memories :scotland: :scotland: :scotland:

Was that in Sumo by any chance? Served them when they came into Mark’s record shop The Store when I was working there (opposite, over the road).

I waiting in line hours to meet Giggs when I was a kid, kunt wouldn’t sign my shirt. Went back upset to my grandmas house and threw the shirt in the fire.

Got a clip round the ear and sent to bed with no tea. Kunts went and got fish and chips too.

Fuck Ryan Giggs.

Thought you meant the rapper at first. Makes more sense now I realised.

Always knew he was a wrong’un.

I hope you recover from the trauma one day.

I have 2 news ones

Used to live near Andrew Marr, I’d see him on his porch having a tab during lockdown while I walked the dog. I’d nod at him and he’d nod back.

Had my hair cut sat next to Sir Trevor McDonald he was talking about news the whole time.

We also had paul weller at meanwhile that one time @Snurp

I was in a lift once with Will.i.am after being out with Snurp in Manchester and I pretended I didn’t know who he was which he probably preferred but I thought I was being cool.

Also accidentally made eye contact with Mike V outside the Vans shop in carnaby st and didn’t acknowledge the situation and carried on looking at my shoes as I walked instead.

Saw Charles and Camilla through an open car window.

erm. I’m sure there’s some other even less exciting ones that I’ll remember at 1am.

Worked in record shops for about a decade in my youth and had celeb customers fairly regularly, from standard music heads (PJ Harvey, Ian Brown, James Lavelle) to Bristol legends (Daddy G, Geoff Barrow, Gerard from the Blue Aeoplanes - absolute gent) to random footballers (Kevin Campbell’s cod patois was ace) but my favourite celeb (bit of a stretch) was Davy Fenton from Looking After Jo Jo outside Temple meads.

Jo Jo fans should appreciate that.

(My Thom yorke argument was arguably more interesting for neutrals but pretty sure I’ve mentioned that on here before).

Told this story before, but whilst skating through Soho on the way to or from the Almost premier back in 2005ish… I spotted Simon Amstel coming out of a sex shop or adult cinema or similar as we skated past, I made sure to stop and loudly announce who I had seen to my friends and the rest of the street, then ended up chatting to him for a bit.

Really want to check out the traitors thread but will only catch up on last two episodes this weekend.

Yeah it was.

They were in the top 10 of the charts on the day they came in. They wanted to buy some clothes, and asked for a discount. We said no, sorry. They pulled the “do you know who we are” routine. We said yes, we know who you are, you’re doing very well. They left in a huff.

Also, here is my photo of Frank Lampard and Christine Bleakley doing a big shop

Do you follow people around a lot?

This isn’t mine but it’s a great story.

My mate Joey used to work in Sainsbury’s in Manchester. One day he’s working the tills and he sees John Barnes at the self checkout. John Barnes can’t open the plastic bag so my mate hells “Hey, John Barnes!?”, licks his thumb, raises his hand in the air and rubs his thumb against his index finger. John Barnes thanks him and packs his groceries successfully.
