Pointless Topics

Most Tories don’t think like that, though. They sincerely believe that there is some universal constant, an invisible guiding hand, which means that what profits them the most personally at any given moment is also what’s best for everyone else in the long run but lefties are too stupid and naive to realise it.

Obviously there is a pretty good argument to be made that capitalism has raised everyone’s boats over the last century or so. But the cognitive dissonance they’re showing as these ideas get taken to their extremes, with the whole system becoming dysfunctional and swathes of the population being left behind is quite breathtaking.

Some Chav kid called me a “Tory!” on the way home… like it’s some new roadman type insult.

Yeah but acupuncture works, it worked on me and I was convinced it was bullshit before I had it, did it just to keep my mum happy

It only works because you wanted it to. It’s scientifically a fact that it doesn’t have any health benefit besides being relaxing.

I’d say being able to relax on cue, without medication has massive medical benefits for a lot of people.

It’s funny how no-one ever sees ghosts of Cavemen? Haha.

There’s something to be said for a placebo effect though. If you have pain, and you do acupuncture and believe it’s going to work, and then it does… could that not be considered worthwhile?

Yes I didn’t make that clear. I’m strongly for acupuncture if you get something out of it. But don’t tell me it gets you pregnant or cures cancer.

Dude did you read my reply. I had acupuncture reluctantly as I believed it was all Chinese bullshit and as I sat on the chair I was thinking ‘this is a complete waste of time and money, let’s get this over with quick’. It completely freaked me out when it worked as it worked instantly and the results were 100% legit.

Ironically I’ve had acupuncture since (not by the same person, she died unfortunately) and had very disappointing results.

Right but I still don’t think it works. If it worked the first time why didn’t it work the second time?

Explain to me using science how what they did the first time healed you.

I can only put it down to the style of acupuncture that was being used. First time I had it done was this little old indian lady that just stuck pins in and took them straight out. Fixed my hay fever instantly, then and there for an entire year, for 3 years in a row (tablets needed beforehand, none needed afterwards).

Second (most recent) time, they stuck the pins in and left them.

I can’t explain with science why/how it worked. I just know it definitely 100% put me out of my hayfever misery instantly, and that it freaked me out as I was not expecting it to work in the slightest. For 3 years I had acupuncture once a year, from 16-19 years old, until I no longer needed any hayfever treatment or acupuncture for it. It was like night and day, I went in to see her with red eyes and blocked nose and she stuck the pins in and suddenly my nose was clear, I was fine and no longer needed tablets. Totally fucking mental I know but it 100% worked and I was 100% sceptical beforehand.

Fair fair haha

Or maybe there never was and never will be anything exciting about Joey Brezinski?

That series started off so well too.

If my mum made a skate video and joey brezinski was in it I’d refuse to watch it.

I watched the brezinski hoarders all the way through. Not intentionally though. I started it expecting to turn it off when he started to annoy me, weirdly he didn’t so I ended up watching it all.

I’m at work, it’s my birthday, I want to go to the pub.
