My plan was to skate for a while solo, just to get my legs back so to speak, then actually go to a park/local indoor. But I ended up making a small box, bought a couple of rails, waxed a curb and just kinda really appreciated the time skating and alone more and more to the point I’m just happy.

I do miss skating with others though - it has been a while and you are correct about getting to where other skaters will be!

I learnt how to build things with my hands during Covid and now really, really like building and decorating grind boxes. Would love to do that more but there’s only so much shit I can Tetris into my car boot.

Thanks @franc I’d tried it a few times after I fakie big spinned it, I fucking lived that obstacle. The new concrete spine there is gnarly man, a foot higher and way steeper tried to cab it put a few down and then snapped a load of ligaments in my ankle so just left it. Ankle folded board over ankle then my other foot full weight on the board.

Just stuck to melon grabs after that. Should have just half cabbed I was well into cabs at that point.

  • Favourite local skater: Fuck knows. I only skate about 3 times a year but sometimes bump ibto Shaun Currie and he seems like the nicest badass skater around.

I guess a semi-bunt for me is 360 flips. Kid next door waaaaay back when I was in my late teens was like ‘can you 360 flip’ so I did one, first try, on my drive in front of him and then he was always like ‘what, you’re amazing, you did a 360 flip first try’.

I tried to correct him but he wouldn’t have any of it - it was a complete and utter fluke and I’m shit at them to this day :man_shrugging:

When i was about 13 id wear a skate chain and it had one of those big ‘cross’ shaped, shit skate tools on the end of it in my pocket. Fuck knows how i skated carrying that around. Id always have curs and bruises on my thigh from slamming on it.
