Sandwiches

The crisp sarnie is one of those things that make me feel like damn, Brits and food:wink: :kissing_heart:
It’s not as bad as the spag bol sarnie, I’ll give you that.

I spent close to an hour browsing this Wiki page about sarnies last weekend: List of sandwiches - Wikipedia
Some interesting ideas there.

This isn’t a thing

I’ve heard people talking about it. In real life.

A pretty stressful situation.

Toast sandwich is quoted as being the ‘cheapest meal’.

I tried it once as a student and was pleasantly surprised, but haven’t done it since; nor do I think I ever will. The way I did it was buttered two slices of non-toasted-bread, and buttered both sides of a piece of toast while it was hot. The contrast of the hot and cold butters and the crunchy and soft breads was quite nice.

I’d try it. Bit of cream cheese and ham could be pretty good.

Smashed a Toast Skagen a couple of times during my time in Sweden this week. Haven’t had it in a couple of years. Can confirm that it is still as great as I remember it.

Pie aye man’!
The one good thing about being stuck in the house editing all week is that I’ve had a chance to make a filthy sarnie again!

Ingredients: Leftover chicken pie, nik naks, cheese, mayo, peri mayo, ketchup, butter and soft bread.

  1. Butter that soft bread and add your cheese, some would say you don’t need butter but it really adds moisture to the leftover pie crust.

  1. Add your leftover pie. You want to rip it up and drop it in. It lets the meat juice mix with the pastry, leaving you with a softer bite.

  2. Add your splash, I went with peri mayo for the cream and spice and then ketchup for the tang.

  3. Add some crushed crisps of your choice for crunch. I’ve gone with nik naks because I love the tang!

  1. Use the technique of really squashing that sarnie. With such a meaty dense filling it needs a good squash.

  1. Always coat with a layer of mayo as you know that’s the best to fry with. Higher burning temp and a lusher taste.

  1. Gently fry slice and enjoy with a peri mayo dip!

In the words of Macho Man Randy Savage, ‘OH YEAH’!

I hoped you would post this on here

I think that’s the first thing you’ve ever posted that I’d personally actually eat.

Would swap the nick nacks out for some pickled red cabbage or onion maybe? Might go well with the pie but still get that crunch

I’ve not tried but that sounds lush! What splash did you go with?

Black truffle BBQ sauce (because I’m fancy like that), then asked myself what Bish would do and added mayo, no Nik Naks, sadly.

Didn’t have time to then fry it…
