Save Barking Skatepark

Barking indoor skatepark, which is run by GLL, is set to close on the 2nd of August and is set to become…padel courts.

It’s all probably a little late now but any last minute signatures would be appreciated. It’s London’s largest indoor facility but has been, I think, mismanaged with terrible reduced opening hours and a real lack of engagement with anything skating. I was there on go skateboarding day and you wouldn’t have known a thing!

Anyone had any luck in saving similar spaces before?

Wayoutskates has done amazing work on Brighton indoor but I can’t remember whether they saved it or relocated.

Have signed. I live in east London and while I’m not exactly deep in the scene, I only found out about this place like a month ago!

Thanks! I must admit there isn’t the biggest scene there (part of the problem I think with the reduced times) but everyone is friendly and a good range of people - always someone to have a chat with.

The next two weekends are your chance to experience it before it gets ripped down. I’m aiming for at least a few of them.
