Shoes

I think those are States you’ve got there. Stubbier toe than the Clyde/Suede.

The leather they use of some of the cheaper Adidas shoes is like some kind of plastic coated sheet of fluff. I used to skate shelltoes sometimes when they were still cheap and that stuff was horrible.

That’s what the guy talks about here. A layer of leathery looking plastic.

It’s really noticeable across the various Dunks.

Those brown pumas remind me of a rip-off version we all used to skate in 94/5 . A budget shoe shop would sell Xanthus
Xavier McDaniel shoes for £20 We’d unpick the side logo and rolled up socks taped under the tongue. job done

Hmmmm, trying to take it back to 98 but not really hitting the mark

They’re not terrible but what’s more of an issue is that DVS still make shoes

They look like they were designed with those felt play boards we had as todlers

That ollie patch thing is going to unstitch and start flapping about quick smart.

What happened at DVS? They were a main player in the early to mid 90s and have just faded away in terms of visibility, brand strength and people giving a shit. Obviously a casuality to the sports shoe companies, but when there was Podium Dist with Lakai, then Lakai went direct to Crailtap, what happened? They’re now on a similar level to Osiris, but without the cheese and hate that Osiris gets.

They’ll soon catch up with Osiris if they keep down this route.

Haha, that’s a race to the bottom that nobody wants to win.

Nu-metal.

At least Osiris have had some semi-ironic cultural impact with the D3, which is sort of keeping them going. DVS have no reason to still exist, they’re not relevant inside or outside of skating.

2003 DVS was good though

Yeah, DVS were respectable at one point. Everyone I knew that had the first Getz shoe loved them.

Osiris are weird, they could’ve coined it years ago by releasing the original D3 and a few of their other old models but for some reason they continue to make strange looking mid tops and the bigger of the D3 models over and over. They even had a pretty respectable team until about the mid 00s and could’ve used that a bit more or built on it but no.
