Always thought that little ollie flap on shoes like those Globes or that Adidas shoe from last year was based on the old Vision Street Wear boots from the late 80s.
That’s what makes me think of them anyway.

That makes sense, for a little circle of rubber, I think they look quite nice.
Had a little search and found vans have the extra rubber in the toe zone, but it definitely doesn’t improve them aesthetically. Like Cuntflambe said, imagine it would mess with the flick having that much extra rubber there.
I had the cheaper versions, Pacer Hogs. Fucking awful, paper thin sole and the toe was like a brick. So I saved up for some Airwalk Velocity, really learned a lesson didn’t I?
Me too, they lasted me about a week. I was gutted. Airwalks after that and they lasted long enough to need some stick on soles from Woolies.

Found a no-name pair called Crew Street Wear for £7 in a local shoe shop when I was 13, I was so stoked on them, despite the ugliness. Soon ditched for some chunky Adidas high top moonboots.
It also didn’t bother you what way your board was either, weirdo!
Not until you pointed it out. Now I’m a ruined tweaker.

Yuck. Es have really dropped the ball, unfortunately.
As long as they stay alive and do accel slims, I don’t mind. I think they are just acting as a nostalgia trip to Kelly Hart and his mates at the moment.

Swifts and Swift 1.5 were great shoes, but they’ve been dropped for some brutal stinkers from 03 which were shite then and still shite now.

You can still track down the 1.5s for fairly cheap. I bagged the second to last black/gum pair from their website.

Can’t find any for now, still some Etnies Highlites for sale on Ebay, which I love. Been digging the NB Numeric 420s aswell. Bit sweatier, but far more durable.

I had some black canvas Slip On pros with the toe cap, might have been the first colourway they did with it, and they were the best. I love skating in canvas shoes but they’re definitely a little less grippy than suede for flip tricks. That subtle toe made them perfect.

Can’t help but see Kalis’ first DC shoe but with an ‘N’ on the side. They’re decent though. If I was into big shoes I reckon I’d give them a go. They look comfortable.
They’re a bit like one of those “is it blue or black” optical illusions, sometimes they make me think of a Dad playing tennis in 1992 and other times I’d have a go
