My memory is shit, but I seem to remember that I had some MJs back in 2001/2002ish and the tongue was not padded enough and they ended up needing to be pretty rambo’d in the lace department to stay on my feet.
I also seem to remember having some of the reissues about 10 years ago… but no idea what they were like or not, as I have very little memory of them. Maybe I’m projecting and actually thinking of the Sal reissues from around then.
Same, I recall the tongue being pretty neutral. The shoe was fairly low profile, which would’ve been the same for most Emericas then, before they became all about minor variants on the vulcanized theme.
Never saw them in the wild BITD and from what I recall, they didn’t do so well at the time. They do look like the OG Rowley shoe C&V’d a load of it.
97/98? I had both anyway and found the MJ to have a neutral tongue as @voodoo says, the OG-1 reissue which were just much chunkier, the tongue was bigger and even the inner padding:
Is that some kind of experiment in flexibility and lightness? Like the gaps in the sole help and encourage you to get up on the balls of your feet for popping tricks? Looks like it’ll be absolute hell for catching stones in them and just introduces another ripping point.
