I’m hopping Nidecker will get Es or etnies back into sponsoring comps , push cariuma out .
That would be incredible .

I’d like it if they were able to steer es away from the potato shaped reissues, I’ve heard there are already plans restore the Accel to it’s original shape so let’s hope they are on board with that sort of thing.

God knows who thought it was a good idea to give the Creager the massive tongue treatment which no one asked for.

Going to need confirmation from @franc here. Can a national flag be trademarked?

Never gunna buy a pair of Es anyway but good luck to em!

I’ve seen that éS Accel.

Turns out Don Brown was gas lighting us all with the Accel OG and they did change it in the early 2000s.

The new one with the proper original shape is called the Accel 95 and it’s actually banging.

It’s the piece in the middle.
OG (early 2000s reshape) is up top.
Slim is down below.

Ok so I 100% had the top pair. The slim does look good, would probably fuck with the OG in the middle.

The top pair are like pillows. Way too puffy. It’s wild.
Penny and Louie Jones skate them. Everyone else is on the Slims.

I think most will switch to the ‘95 once it drops.

Can’t blame Pierre, he can look back and say he gave it a real good stab and cashed in. Early retirement? Yes please

Would those be similar to accels available around 2002/2003?

That controversial Natas shoe seems way cooler after seeing this.

Sounds weird to me, I suppose national flags are property of the state they represent…? Not even sure what laws one should follow when it comes to that, national or international ones? Hhmmm… Plus some kind of authority should decide what is a national flag and what is not, as you can make something really look like the Union Jack or the Swiss flag or whatever but make it slightly different so most people see it as what it looks like but it is technically not that.

I thought Victorinox was the company with trademark protections on using the Swiss cross.

I’m finding out more details , something to do going back many generations in the family . Will update when I hear back

Looks like it’s a no*…

*with the caveat that it’s from Wikipedia.

It does sound a bit like pub talk.

Sounds like it’s now even higher, at least 60% of a product now has to be realised in the county for it to be able to use the flag.*

Are Bones Swiss actually made in Switzerland then? They use the flag on packaging.

Presumably why my watch can claim ‘Swiss movement’ but can’t use the flag visual because it must be less than 60%.

*this was going to be a reply to Jimo, not trying to mansplain your own country to you :joy:

The commercial use of the Swiss cross, Swiss flag or Swiss coat of arms was technically prohibited by the 1931 Federal Act for the protection of public coats of arms and other public insignia, [24] but that prohibition was not enforced. Increasing commercial use of the Swiss coat of arms prompted a number of federal regulations, dubbed “Swissnessregulation” (Swissness-Verordnung), in force since 2017.[25] The

“Coat of Arms Protection Act” of 2017 (Wappenschutzgesetz, Loi sur la protection des armoiries, SR 232.21) now prohibits the commercial use of the Swiss coat of arms (defined as “a Swiss cross in a triangular shield”). Use of the Swiss flag is generally permitted with the provision that such use

“is neither misleading nor contrary to public policy, morality or applicable law”.

Provisions are made for a “right to continued use” for trademarks registered

before 2010.[26].
