@TerryTibbs and myself went street skating with the DGK/RBK team after a demo at Epic many moons ago. Some very quotable moments from those couple of hours, including Stevie looking TerryTibbs dead in the eyes saying “I don’t wanna see that shi’ on youtoob” after he filmed a clip at Smiths rails, all while being handed back his never ending amount of jewellery by his PA.
I was given a pair of these as we said our goodbyes by Stevie and Jack Curtain, which left me quite literally speechless for all the wrong reasons. Had them for about 2 weeks before I gave them a mate of mine who was into them on the basis he stopped doing M-CAT. My plan didn’t work as a few weeks later he was in hospital for doing too much M-CAT. This was at least 15 years ago and he’s doing fine now.
What was going on in the design meeting where they thought there wasn’t enough going on with this shoe already that it needed to have a pump added? Did they have Hexalite soles too?
Someone should make an Accel where you can pump it up to or down to match the three shapes/sizes from over the years. Go full Penny for when you’re in the pub then deflate to actually skate in.
Wow, that’s unlocked a memory. There was one summer when I was at uni where mcat was everywhere, it was dirt cheap, and the only thing anyone was doing because there was supposedly some sort of global mdma drought.
There was a guy on the edge of our friend group who was 100% addicted and would be up for days at a time doing it. You’d go round before morning lectures and he’d be doing lines. Might have been your mate haha. Think he’s a doctor now.
Sadly not, he’s a decorator now, we were literally talking about those bright orange RBK’s last week while he was doing some work at my place haha
Not sure if he was the TM, pretty sure he was just on the trip to do the article for Kingpin. That’s the first time we met him though for sure. Very funny day.
I have one of the basketball RBKs somewhere, from the Leeds demo. Some kids had a physical fight for the other one. It was probably the only time I met lev, I put my arm around Stevie for a photo and I had an absolutely horrific hangover. It was a good day.
I saw this pic and felt instant shame because I actually like them even though they stink
