Effortless design.
Dirkenstock
Surely that can’t be legit!?
Thought that too but they are. Absolutely howling
Realising I skated better when I had my Accel OGs than my Vans I currently have. My ollies were better for sure. Going to save up for some new Accels.
Is it just me or has the tongue lost some volume in the OGs?
There’s the new 95 model, which is midway between the slim and the og by most accounts… so you might be seeing that?
Oh was looking at the OG, was just imagining that the tongue was smaller in volume now. Thanks, the 95 model looks good but I’ll go for the OG as they fit my problem wide feet and skated well. Tongue is a bit daft haha but oh well.
Theres a massive fuckup in the naming.
The ‘Accel’ came out in 1995. It’s the one Arto, PJ, Penny and absolutely everyone wore.
The ‘Accel OG’ was an update to the Accel around 2004 which made it puffier - and they quietly dropped the Accel from the line.
That naming has caused so much confusion. Because the Accel OG is not the OG. The Accel is. And the Accel was going to be called the Accel 95 when it was brought back last year but the decision was made in design to just call it the ‘Accel’ (That decision is made about 9 months before it hits the shelves and it almost impossible to change back after),
Confused? Probably.
The Accel is the dope shape and massively skateable.
The Accel OG is the BBQ dad, hanging out shape.
The Accel OG isn’t in the line anymore - so whatever you find is old stock.
Quick overview (But I think they got 2006 wrong…but whatever. Maybe I did).
Shot a music vid over the weekend.
Stoked to pick up one of the last pairs of the Spanky Hi, fave shoe ever.
This explains something because the version I saw on those skaters you mentioned inspired me to get some but it was in about 2007 I bought some and they were like loafs of bread, unskateable, felt like a D3
Might get some nostalgia accels
I went to one of their offices, picked up a pair and laughed as I thought they’d made some pisstake versions of the shoe, puffed up beyond all recognition.
This was a couple of years after you encountered them, and shoes were very thin and slim then.
“No. Thats the Accel which has always been in the line.”
I couldn’t believe I skated shoes that size in the 90s.
Roll on about 8 years and I find out that I didn’t. I skated the ‘proper’ ones.
Madness.
I had nothing but accels for years and had to divert to other shoes when the vulc phase took over but then it was pretty much square ones, eldridges and similar. Wanting to go back to accels they just seemed insane, I couldn’t believe that that is what I wore so the slims, while looking a bit clown toed, I went for those. I love them. But glad that the confusion has ended for the accel. Maybe one day i’ll grab some more but kind of seems pointless as i’m not skating. More BBQ dad hang out.

Second John Shanahan pro model. Strong Hi-Tec vibes, think it’ll go down well.
I have his first model but I can never really wear them because the achilles support part is too stiff and rubs causing blisters.
Latest in a long line of weird Nike SB team models appears to be an ugly dunk (ling).
Called the Code 58 so presumably a replacement for the Force 58 that I thought was actually pretty popular. Definitely saw people wearing them.
They look excellent
