I just find a short manny pad, go really fast and do a quick revert at the end. Probably more a nose bonk than a manny but I’ll still take it. Definitely never been able to hold a nose many or nose grind.
I can’t do any form of manual, never bothered to learn
I swear I’ve seen you do a manual. I’ve definitely seen you do a number of 5-0s and that’s just a better manual
One random one is I can do front lipslides but not bs boardslides. Also, as many have already said, regular backside 180s (switch ones are fine, as are backside flips although both look trash).
Well maybe but it would’ve been a couple feet long and a complete blag
Ive never done a nose manual and I can’t back 180 either. Ive landed more backside flips than bs 180s. Never done an ollie to bs 5050 on a ledge either. Can’t get my head round it. At all.
Skateboarding is hard.
Backside grinds have always been beneath me. Muddled through a few back fiftys but felt very uncomfortable, absolutely nothing else. Would love to of done a back tail or back lip on ledges but it just doesn’t make sense to me. Overall doing this thread I’m realising I can’t/couldn’t do very much at all!
I’ve never done a trick let alone an ollie out of a kicker.
I can only pop out mid block from 5.0s and 5050s, never gone off the end of a block. It scares the hell out of me!
Can 5.0 slash the deep end of a bowl but can’t 5050 a regular mini ramp.
Learnt kickflip body varials before kickflips.
Haha mint same! Did one down a 3 stair before I kickflipped one - whilst still pushing Mongo. Corrected that before I moved to Sheffield.
But when I filmed I always pushed switch not regs.
I learned varial flips before kickflips. Little kid on a full size board, it was easier to flip from the back of the board if I added a shove.
Yeah same I learnt varial flips before proper kickflips, which I think ruined my kickflips forever. I could pop double flips better than regular kickflips.
When I first started I thought a manual involved dragging your tail on the ground, I didn’t realise you had to balance on your wheels. So I went to school and told everyone I learnt manuals and proceeded to just scrape my tail along the ground in front of everyone
I also can’t carve a bowl - always end up lifting my front trucks
Only learned how to properly frontside ollie on mini ramp in about 2010. Can just about carve a bowl. Can’t remember who it was years ago (@Londonskater might remember, maybe it was Benson?) who tore me to shreds just for going up and down. Humbling.
I’d love to have a good fs ollie. Not going to happen now, sadly.
I really hope this is knocking about in the archives somewhere. I’d watch the shit out of that.
I used to force myself to land one kickflip a year and would spend half an hour either stationary or creep-rolling to make one nasty flailed one. Gave up in about 2012 as they just felt horrible. I’ve dreamt about making them, and would love to have them, but I don’t think i’ve ever had the quickness in my legs for them.
I’m just too much of a lump.
That’s the thing, there was nothing to watch. I quite literally typed a list of all the tricks I could do at the time:
Ollie
180
Back 180
Pop Shuv
Krook
Krook 180
Krook Shuv
Etc
…god bless 13 year old me hahaha
I asked a bmx shop that sold skateboards to sponsor me when I was about 14. Then I bought some wheels and my card got declined but nobody noticed (myself included) so I walked out with them.
Couple of months later I applied for a job there and (bless) showed up in my first suit. Start of the interview the guy comes in with the receipt for my payment that failed months earlier and made me pay for it. I paid and left.
OOF haha. Gutted.
I’m dead. Sorry you wore a suit to an interview at a skateshop?
My mum told me to
