Always been a massive believer of one song parts are the best but Lost & Found is one of the only videos that gets a two song pass in my book oddly enough, Danny Brady’s part. His and Jason Lee’s in Video Days. There are probably a few more I can’t think of right now.
Fuck you Ty Evans for what you did to MJ’s Fully Flared never ending section!
Lost & Found is brilliant.
but
i rewatched Brady’s part after hearing The Delgados. all the (palpable) hype built during “Coming in from The Cold” went limp when “Sugarman” started. had it been trimmed to fit one song, it would’ve been immense - Brady was skating like an otherworldly mix of Penny and Toby Shuall
Not into Travis but I love the way Jensen’s section starts. That mellow tune with the B-roll footage then that line with the best nollie frontside flip and the Travis songs that kicks in (before it gets too Travis), it works so well.
Never thought about Brady as a mix of Penny and Shuall but it makes sense for sure, and I never compare anyone to Penny.
No secret I don’t skate anymore but I still care a lot about it and judging by how one of my kids seems interested who knows?
Anyway, I’ve been really getting into Warhammer and watch some of this vtuber’s videos for tactical info. I was wondering who he was in real life (still no idea) and came across this weird but cute video he posted a while back.
I figured this was the right thread for such info…
I’m still a bit of a novice player. I was terrified of painting but once you start I find you get really into it and it’s pretty satisfying when you do something better than your last attempt.
Currently watching more lore videos to better understand the complicated backstories to all this madness. I feels a bit like trying to understand all the families and feuds from Eastenders to really appreciate the series.
Tbh, I don’t collect, paint or play - I pretty much only follow the lore. I’m toying with the idea of painting the miniatures as something non-screen based and creative, but it feels an expensive and slippery slope too far into nerdom.
I don’t have any desire to play the actual game, though I really enjoyed playing Space Marine 2 on Xbox, but tabletop isn’t my thing.
In terms of the lore I think it’s the scale, and the general over the top bleakness of the whole thing that’s fun to imagine - you don’t get that in Star Wars. I’ve read a few of the Horus Heresy books but I’m not really a reader, I usually just listen to Luetin09’s videos on YouTube before bed.
Totally agree on the financial hole. Games Workshop is a crude money making machine. But I think that if you’re starting to really buy models you kind of need to play to see some sort of return on investment. And also it’s best to choose a faction and run with it.
Maybe you could just pick some really select models to paint? Some of the cleanest models I’ve seen painted at my local shop were done by a guy who only paints and doesn’t play at all.
I got into it as something for my son and I to enjoy together and we do. He’s really into building. Now my daughter is really into painting. Not sure my wife would be interested though.
Check the Lysander and Coda podcasts for funny and opinionated takes on the lore.
I paint/collect I’ve never learnt to play. I don’t follow the lore either. I’ve always just thought they looked cool. These were the last 2 models I finished. I haven’t painted in ages
