I had 740,000 words that had to be edited down to 120,000, but I haggled and it’s about 160,000 words now.
Pretty much everything Curtis said stayed.

Ordered. I’ll forget I’ve ordered it and then it’ll just arrive in the post one day as a surprise, which will be sick.
That’s mad! Should try and write another 260,000 words and drop a million word Directors cut!
I’m thinking that, at some point in the future, putting out 16 zines - one for each year - that people can buy one or some or all of, to go alongside the book. They’d be big zines though.
Word count is one thing, but thanks to all the people who shot photos digging in their archives, I’ve got a pretty absurd amount of photos here too, and I don’t want to just toss the ‘extras’ up on IG.
That would be a good way to get a bit of extra recompense for your labour
It’s more that I now feel like I have ‘custody’ of all this stuff, and it’s my responsibility to get it out there. All this information and imagery that people have shared.
Fuckin shitty waterstones website fuckin won’t fuckin work for fuckin preorder fuckin hell
Oh wait, it worked on a different laptop. Ordered!
This looks great Builda! serious props. Will order later.
Yeah it’s a pre order / day 1 all day. Nice one @buildafire ![]()
Passed the link on to some ex-skater friends.
Wouldn’t it be better to wait to pick this up from an SOS?
(although shoutout to Waterstones Plus points system)
Ordered.
There’s a Waterstones in Brussels so hopefully no issues for delivery.
Stoked you guys have ordered it. It’s really, really good, and that’s down to all the people who spoke and all the people who gave me photos - professionals and otherwise.
Also it’s not a big happy story about how great everything was and how much everybody liked each other.
Edit: Just noticed the Waterstones listing says it’s 400 pages - it was going to be 400 pages, but it’s 460 pages now.
Which way for us to buy is best for you @buildafire ?
Yeah, so we can get our signed copies.
Great work Build, glad to see all the hardwork is finally coming to fruition and ready for the world to see.
Dunno really. Didn’t expect the pre-sale to be up so soon. From your local skate shop ideally, but otherwise probably Waterstones or Barnes & Noble or Foyles or whatever there is where you are. Thanks for asking.
And the signed ones? @buildafire i really wanna get this as it’s a chunk of U.K. skating where my knowledge is pretty poor pre 1998!
Congratulations on completing it all @buildafire
Quite a project
Signed by whom? If you buy it, your favourite UK skateboarder (or photographer or shop guy or magazine dude) from that period is probably in it, so get them to sign it.
You could ask Tom and Mon and Sean (and Alex) to sign yours!
Perfik. Is there a list of shop stockists when it’s available.
