But you still sell them (to kids). As Route One. What am I allowed to comment on then? I’d love to know.
Mate, I work for Paperchase in York. Those socks are absolutely nothing to do with me.
What’s the industry’s take on R1?
Guess you can try and get R1 to take a load of junk then sell the good stuff for SOS. A lot of those R1 exclusives I remember look like they were bargain bin basement stock from last season
Didnt someone cool work at the Extreme store and discounted a pair of shoes for someone and stashed loads of bones reds n shit in the box? That Greezy Louie dude or something haha
I went into that new SOS last year and just felt bummed out, didn’t recognise anyone and made me miss the 20. Nothing beats Rocking up on Sunday morning with Killers looking dead pretending to sort online orders while on a come down, Zak still sweating from the night before totally hyped on some random skate clip, then pissing him off telling mom Jason has better Tre’s than Mike York haha
Stay core stay poor as the saying goes
Managed to cop a pair of Nike SB for £20 in the Nike sale - hope that choice doesn’t also upset people

I also ended up going for an Enuff setup from Black Sheep for my first board which is arriving middle of next week. I’ll let you know how my first ride goes
Socks need weed prints or an offensive word.
Will drawing on then suffice?
Maybe.
If you go for some text, be sure to spell it properly.
See over at Blodney of Palace thread for the reference.
Hey man, I worked at Black Sheep briefly. Can assure you those undercarriage additions would be suitable for yourself.
If I remember correctly, you can grab any board and then add that undercarriage kit to it? Basically, that just gives you more variety in choosing your first plank. You won’t notice the quality of trucks and wheels so much at first but regardless of how long you’ve been skating - you always want to be into the deck you’re riding. You’ll develop preferences with experience.
Alternatively, any of the pre-built completes from Legacy would also be suitable for you - and probably slightly cheaper than the Black Sheep option. Both are good skater owned stores and worth spending your money at.
Hope this has been some help in and amongst the skate shop politics you’ve just been chucked in at the deep end of learning about, haha.
*edit - just saw you went for the Black Sheep option.
For the record here’s a bunch of skate shops worth buying from off the top of my head for any further needs. Also always worth visiting should you be in any of these places around the country.
Division 24 - Wakefield
Welcome - Leeds
Slugger - Sheffield
Black Sheep and Note - Manchester
Slam City - London
Focus - Edinburgh
The Palomino Club - online only but specialises in books, magazines and DVDs which will is a good starting point for learning about skateboarding as a culture.
How have I never heard of this? Thanks for posting that, gunna give it a hard lurk in the morning.
Palomino is a great shop.
Side note, Mods, would it be worth having a sticky ‘so you’re new to skateboarding’ thread that has links to good shops, info, etc? I imagine people end up on this site after a google search looking for info and it might be helpful to direct them to a set thread instead of throwing them into the deep end of the forum, as PDW said?
It’d be a nice little SEO boost for shops too. Plus I know a few but I bet not all!
“If you don’t skateboard, don’t start…”
Finally got my board yesterday and practiced for a couple of hours after work.
I put the board together using some youtube videos but I regret getting them to put the grip tape on for me as they cut a big gouge out of the nose side of the grip.
I recorded a bunch of my first skate to look back at and I managed to ollie and also landed a couple shove its. Not sure if or how we add video on here though to share.
I’ve woken up this morning and I’m so sore in my front leg hip flexor from raising my leg over and over with the Ollie’s
It will obviously be something I’ll quickly get used to but it’s so fun learning everything and landed a trick after loads of trys.
I’d recommend going round the edge of your grip with a file. It looks a bit proud and filing it down will stop it lifting up.
Don’t worry about uploading vids on here, just do it for yourself.
Where did you get the deck? Perfectly useable but curious about the grip job.
I think he did himself and regrets but getting them to do it. You can see roll of grip in pic.
