Oh wow I bet that will be mint

I saw a kingfisher earlier. There were some photographers in a bird hide by a lake and I decided to go in and happened to see a kingfisher. It was bright green and orange. Also saw loads of canada geese and egrets which I thought were just gulls but the lady in the cafe pointed out that when resting they have long legs like a stork or heron. Felt pretty amateur alongside the professional looking cameramen with my little national trust binoculars and had to ask what kind of bird the kingfisher was haha.

I see kingfishers occasionally when I walk my dog along the canal, they’re absolutely dope it feels like a proper privilege to see one

Yeah, it was awesome and it felt very fortuitous. First time I’ve ever seen one. I was weighing up whether to go to the climbing wall but glad I didn’t.
Going to get a book so I can tick off what I’ve seen.

On the twitching front. Kestrels used to be called Windfuckers apparently.

If you’re spotting birds without the Merlin app it’s a total waste of time. Get that shit on your life list asap.

Managed to skate for a couple of hours and not re-blow my ankle. Obviously far from 100% but did alright considering. Get ankle on ice now.

MBV and J Mascis were pretty tidy, like.

Bumped into Stu from Mogwai, too.

Bought a signed Jason Lee board off eBay about a month ago and it never turned up. Went through the refund process with eBay and got my money back - tbh, I couldn’t really afford it that month and probably shouldn’t have bought it, so ultimately nothing lost I figured.

Anyway, opened my door this morning and it’s just sat there on my doormat! No idea where it’s been the last 4 weeks, but ended up getting it for free. Stoked!

Recently learned of a dish called ā€˜rumbledethump’ essentially bubble and squeak with cheese roasted in the oven. Its banging, cheap and goes great with anything (highly recommend sausages). Had it last night and got some leftovers today. Gunna shove it in some pastry and create some Frankensteins pasty monster. I’ve never been so excited to get home and essentially eat reheated mash and cabbage.

I’ve had rumbledethump numerous times. Can confirm it’s banging.
