Gave mine to the builder today with his coffee in it and he asked me what it meant. Just lied and said I didn’t know, it was from the charity shop cos I couldn’t face trying to explain it.

Kinda. With BJJ its a lot slower to promote than karate or tae kwon do so whereas karate you can grade up belts every few months and get a black belt in 2 years BJJ typically takes 10+ years. There are white, blue, purple, brown and black belts and you get stripes to acknowledge progress in each belt before you move up to the next one, roughly every 6 months. This means that the next big milestone for me will be getting my brown belt some time in the next 6 months hopefully. Lots of gyms do it randomly too so theres not a formal schedule to keep it interesting

That must be quite dojo dependant. Im doing my first dan Shotokai assessments now - I’m six years in and definitely one of the faster ones to go through the grades…

Possible stoker - might pull the trigger on this auction as this was my first ever board in about 1992. It’s a literal piece of shit, but I’ve never seen one in this good a condition before.
