Im using a Landyachz Dingy for a year now and can ride it reasonably good. Nothing fancy, just cruising around for a few km.
I would love to have super small board for city trips (e.g by plane/train). To make sense for me it should be very small so I can take it all the time and cover smaller distances (1-2km).
I saw the Penny 22 and eggboard which seem good size wise. Also found a „NKX Bones Mini Cruiser Skateboard 22" not sure if that good
What im not sure about is how smooth/safe they feel. Are they a lot harder to ride? Is the risk of Bering stopped by a stone/stick a lot higher or does that depend more on the wheels than the length?
Eggboard is hard to get in Germany (but I’m in the US in November, eggboard 22 is available. Are there any other quality alternatives?
I’d just get a popsicle, could get some light trucks like Thunder lights (less weight to carry around). If you go super small like a penny board it’s not gonna feel great for cruising around.
Just get a decent skate bag with straps on the outside so you can carry it that way. No reason why you can’t have fairly big wheels on a popsicle or zip zinger or whatever.
I recently revived a Zip zinger I’ve had for about 15 years with some Ace 22s and it’s a fairly boring ride in comparison to a Polarizer. Granted there’s a bit more freedom for ollies etc
Avi was ripping around my local last Christmas on one. Fucking well fun, very similar to my first two skateboards when I was a kid.
I have one of those Z set ups in a 70’s sorta style from around 12 years ago, wood with a small tail and big soft wheels. Loosened off the trucks and it’s loads of fun.
Like Nav said, get a Polarizer. It’s pure skateboarding and pure fun. Getting used to riding one is like how it felt when you first stepped on a board when you were a kid, just as scary and exciting. I’ve had one for a couple years, I can cruise around on it fine, but if I try to go a bit faster or do anything controlled and it’s a thrill ride.
(And yeah, Avi is amazing on them, I don’t understand how he does it, the nose and tail go downwards but he’s still doing flips and shit? Tricks on an anti-trick board)
Honestly if your first thought is like Ned’s and it’s not for you, just watch Hewitt or Blender on one and you’ll see the appeal. Although, you mentioned in your first post that you want something that feels ‘safe’… ok maybe don’t get one then!
