Shame there isn’t anything else you can make with bricks.

You wouldn’t even see the logo if he uses them in the normal way.

Don’t mind this :alien:

He could always build a Supreme brick barbecue… oh, actually, he probably couldn’t.

I liked the Damien Hirst Ronnie O’Sullivan painting.

gutted, the ET going to be about £450.

At £450 I’d want the crate and blanket included.

Some people would want him to be anatomically correct for that price…

Optimus Prime is fun but why?

I see many Damien Hirst decks on Ebay. Some for rather optimistic amounts.

Yeah people put Clown Banksy boards on there excepting thousands too.

I’d have taken a gamble on a handful of magic beans from a stranger on the road before I’d expect to turn a profit on any of those Clown shop boards too.

I’d imagine the first OG run of Banksy boards would probably be worth something, which is likely what’s stoking the hype of these new ones.

All mainstream artist skateboard graphic collabs leave me cold. I liked Keith Haring’s OG Pop Shop decks because he made them and his shop concept was original, but I don’t get the point of the newer ones from Alien etc… It’s just cashing in.

Stuff like band collabs, reissues, same thing. It doesn’t feel authentic, it’s just a cash grab.

I really like a lot of Passport graphics, I like some of the There graphics but the execution is usually poor and could benefit from screenprinting. The only guaranteed pure gold I can think of in modern skateboard graphics is anything by Chris Johansen. He still puts out the odd graphic on Anti Hero or obscure Japanese brands, always sick.

What else is good? There’s a thread of Slap about this now but I don’t see much reallly interesting stuff on it.

Is there hype though? Beyond what Clown themselves are suggesting? Declaring something a “a collectors’ item” at the point of sale is pretty bullshit. Let the market decide. It’s like when you used to get stickers on records that said ‘For collectors only’, just because they’d shoved in some extra sleeve notes or something. You can’t claim something has value beyond what it costs. And selling something new for a perceived secondary market price is just bizarre.

Absolutely. The beauty of skateboard graphics is that they say something about the times they were made in. That’s why reissues and art for money will always suck.

There are saying something with their graphics, they have a message. Chris J too, always has some meaning or relevance or direct political comment. Who else does?

I’m a big fan of Petra Cortright. She did a collab with GX1000.

I remember those. They were dope, I guess when I say mainstream I mean like Hirst/Koons/Gilbert and George…those kind of meaningless big brand art collabs that have happened recently.

I really liked this deck which was semi recent. Slick too which made it look better.

Not decks, but I’ve got a couple of Supreme x Nan Goldin tees. Supposedly the worst received collab of all time. Go down well in east London though, but not as well as Supreme x Rick Rubin which gets a lot of comments.
