One of my cats took a shit on my copy of The Road.
RIP.
One of my cats took a shit on my copy of The Road.
RIP.
Saw the news and came back here to check if you’d posted about it. Was at the bookshop earlier and thought about rereading The Road but decided to buy Children of Time and The Stand again.
Somehow, two far less bleak apocalypses ha.
I never read Blood Meridian or No Country before, I should add them to the list.
I didn’t know there was a sequel.
Gets coat.
No Country is good, the film was very close to it. I also liked the border trilogy.
Couldn’t find hip hop thread. Nicked off Reddit, link for the PDF of Jam Baxter’s book (Jam shared the pdf himself when the book sold out, so I assume it’s no problem to share).

Is there a good website for downloading .epub files? It’s been years since I did it and can’t find anthing decent.
Do some googling, use tor and you can use zlib to download straight to your kindle. Apparently.
I ended up digitally borrowing it from the web archive website. Quite an odd system.
It was this:
I saw this video where Kermode rated the end of the film it was based on as the scariest moment in a film other than the exorcist.
Wouldn’t particularly recommend the book (well…novella). The film must be better.
Only took an hour or so to read though.
Would agree with Kermode. The stuff of nightmares.
Yeah, I saw the original version of The Vanishing, (not the US remake), with a mate in London in 92. I had no idea what to expect. We lived 45 minutes to an hour’s journey from the cinema. We didn’t say a word to each other the whole way home.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s a fantastic film. It draws you in and takes you on a ride. Then, bam! Harrowing.
Tim Krabbe also wrote the seminal cycle racing tome “The Rider”. Much recommended if you’re into the bike.
I need to find this film. I don’t think the book conveys the horror…
Christ yeah the film is just so bleak and stays with you where you put yourself in that situation over and over. Enjoy.
Avoid the Kevin Bacon remake.
How was it?
I need one of these firesticks.
If you have a smart TV you don’t need one you just download an app and a dodgy bloke on what’s app sets it up for you.
Haven’t logged on for ages but thought i would to say the 1988 version is on youtube with subtitles.
You beauty!
Picked up the KLF, chaos, magic book today.
Thought I saw it in this thread but can’t find it now. It’s a fucking good read so far…
