Pretty much current day skating as GBH started up as Maverick
Not quite, but yeah some of GBH, can’t remember names started Maverick as they knew the game was over or had a conscience. I had conversations with a few people about it but it feels like aeons ago.
These aren’t facts as my memory is hazy, I haven’t thought about skateparks for a long time.
Lots of my friends took up BMXing in the late 90s, I had a brief consideration of it and bought a copy of Ride Magazine and Lola Tambling’s dad had the equivalent of a first blood style interview in it.
Just like not finding a porn stash in a bush, kids these days will never know the wonder of randomly seeing someone on a completely different level of ability to them or what they know as possible.
I still have some random militant vegan kid doing Pennyesque frontside flips on a quarter pipe every go on a broken board imprinted on my brain.
I know Gregs brother had something to with Maverick in the beginning and some other GBH people. I remember something about some people taking off to start something else, might have been Canvas.
Just watching this Street League Apex thing live now - with the Beverley Hills rail replica.
Via their Insta
Backside nollie to switch front feeble first try like it was nothing.
Yuto is insane.
There a link to a replay?
GH stream of it

Found the scoring weird as usual. Cab bs noseblunt to regs on a handrail
Bam looking sober and a bit healthier on the mic which is good to see
Another year, another ‘who are all these kooks standing behind the competitors’ question.
(Edited for spoilers)
Yuto just won.
Switched on.
Saw Alex Midler wearing a Pink Floyd shirt.
Switched off.
Yuto and Shane are basically the only skaters who don’t step off onto the deck during their run
Fucking HATE that shit. Blew my mind when it became a regular thing.
They surely must get marked down for that no?
Should be an instant disqualification. Absolutely beyond stinking and contrary to the whole idea of the thing.
Fuck it, start doing it in vert runs too.
He must’ve won, surely?
And now 45 minutes of awards before the results.
It felt a bit dull this year - there was no rivalries like in previous years, no Jah vs Luan, and not having the live scoring takes any tension away. Commentary was dry as well
