You should see some of the cretin gamblers they sponsor.
Just watching the park contest in Rome, and someone did the first 720 in a park comp run and then another person did the first 900 in their run! And it’s only the semi-finals. Finals tomorrow will be bonkers:
Men’s finals are on if you want to see some young men scream around a park: World Skate International - login
Women’s finals of the Rome comp on currently, men’s laters: World Skate International - live
Momiji and Chloe Covell battling it out.
Sora Shirai wearing an England shirt. Skateboard GB, get him on the plane!
There’s a Street League thing live from Brazil on YouTube right now.
I’ve never seen that many Jesus Christs on 7 or 8 sheets of griptape.
The DJ is doing a good job, sick 90s rap set with tons of lyrics about selling drugs, fucking bitches and killing people, I bet hearing that next to the favelas feels good.
Gio Vianna is killing it as usual, Filipe Mota is going to regret wearing those trousers and Luan looks like you’ll find him in front of Jobcenter Plus early tomorrow.
Honestly the worst SLS I’ve seen. Complete bottom of the barrel stuff. Course was well budget and barely any really good skaters showed up.
No offence to him but it says a lot about the contest standard if Felipe Gustavo managed to win
Course was well budget
Yeah the wood the course was made of sounded like Bay 66 last time I went there, really old and soggy.
I think Tony Hawks vert alert forgot that vert only became popular again because people like Jimmy, Moto and Tom Schaar made it look good and exciting.
Spinning kids
Fun thing that happened recently… Was in Rome for the World Skate Street comp last month. Went for a roll at the local DIY and Felipe Gustavo was there. I was wearing my fave Lovenskate T Shirt with Hosoi on it doing a Christ Air and ‘Christ Lives’ in large font. Felipe says 'sick shirt, are you a believer '?
I said “I’m a believer in the trick
”
Deathly silence.
Hahahaha, awesome! ![]()
There is currently a contest being held in Moscow called the Grand Skate Tour. Looks like the contest is directly partnered with the Moscow Department of Culture and organised by the Russian Skateboarding Federation. Ukranian skaters online have mentioned that previous iterations of the event have been sponsored by Russian banks, Gazprom etc. Vlad Pirat (Ukranian skater) has done a good job of documenting how the contest is being promoted by the Russian government and which non-Russian skaters are attending.
These include Danny Way, Pat Duffy, Dave Bachinksy, Ricky Glaser, Trevor Colden, Julian Agliardi, Angel Caro and Mathias Del Olio, but also the UK’s Alex Decunha.
What do people think? Personally, I think it’s well dodgy that these skaters will accept an invitation and potentially shady money to go to a nation that is currently waging war in Europe. Their presence makes Russia look like some ‘fun’ destination and not the authoritarian state that it is. Don’t normalise this shit!
This is good to know. I doubt any of the skaters really care about who’s funding it, they just see the money. But surely going to Moscow, a city that’s been targetted by Ukrainian drones in a country actively at war should ring some alarm bells before you get on the plane?!?
jesus. I hope the money is good.
surely D Way can’t need the cash
Very telling. Either you’re paid well to be there, you’re a political brute wrongun or you’re too stupid to care so any contest invite is welcome.
Jeff D/Pine is also getting a kicking on Slap over attending Tim Pools game of skate.
You’ve probably covered all attendees there haha
