I’m investing in Lino.
I’ll be posting from my yacht this time next year.
I know Sky Brown ain’t everyone’s cup of tea, but as someone who teaches skate lessons and to a lot younger girls too, it’s so sick to see how much she has positively influenced so many of them. Actually amazing to see such an influx of female skaters getting fired up on someone then can relate to.
Yuto wants a word.
Oh Nyjah ![]()
Yuto was gonna win anyway.
Interesting, especially with the global vaccination program not reaching every country let alone the athletes and officials. Which of all people shouldn’t be prioritised for one.
Do they really think the world will be ready by then?
I’ve got no faith in it happening. I just don’t see how it ca be possible? All the access to training disadvantages that have been going on throughout that passed year… then how logistically? What if someone in one of the team sports tests positive? Can’t just delay games can they? If there’s one breach in the village, then what? Appeals left, right and centre? It blows my mind to think about tbh.
Glastonbury also claimed they weren’t cancelling, a while before they announced yesterday that they were cancelled.
I suppose if they’re careful enough with quarantine on arrival, daily testing and making sure that all the athletes and everyone stay in the village it could maybe happen. Also it’s not until July so hopefully things might be looking a bit better by then.
There’s approx 12k athletes! Plus support staff probably takes that up to over 20k (maybe even more!) … Yeah I mean I’m sure the Fencers and the Modern Pentathletes will be careful, but there’s bound to be a slip up somewhere and the consequences could be dire…
All that shagging as well, if one athlete has it it’s bound to spread pretty far
And what about the blood doping , could have an old batch with corona .
I’m with you on this . It’s way too early to be 100% safe for all. But they have $25billion invested and the IOC have always been ruthless
Yeah I hadn’t really considered the scale of it. I don’t know then, but I still wouldn’t completely rule it out.
Is this a case of the authorities and Japan playing along until it can be officially cancelled in order to get a huge insurance payout of some kind? Only way it makes sense to me anyway.
@markg @Chopper yeah, I mean I guess when there’s a will and in in this case it’s a bloody strong one
Melbourne is trying to run its tennis open and it’s all gone to shit.
Yeah that’s been fascinating to watch as it unfolds . And the Melbourne authorities really wanted to risk, after all those months of lockdown, bringing in people who have corona for the sake of tennis . Madness.
