hahaha absolutely cracking this
When he says ‘better managing’ the sheep does he mean just sherpherding them or what? The scenery was really cool though and that noseblunt was lovely as well.
There’s this whole government/state ran number management thing there. So, too many of X animal and Y animal becomes a problem, for example.
So, they ticket X number to be culled each year. It runs as a non-profit lottery. Companies bid for those cull tags and then sell them on to dick head businessmen who want to go kill something. The money raised by selling those tickets on goes back into research and conservation of the exact animal the tag deals with.
At least, that is my understanding of it.
I know Rowley was vegan for a long time, but in this he says he’d been interested in tracking animals since he was a kid and was thinking about it all the time as a younger adult. I wonder how those two things tallied up, or if actually, he’s done a small rewrite of his history…
No idea…but wasn’t he a vegan for just a few years?
It’s weird when I see comments on insta about that side of things. Because people can change their views and that is okay.
Not getting at you, at all…but the idea that someone was once a vegan and therefore could never be anything else is a bit much.
…and then in some weird way, this is helping animal populations.
I dunno - I’m not trying to defend it. I do see that there is a relatively logical and decent side to animal control and I see how someone who was once vegan could draw a line between making sure animal populations are in good health and the killing of overly populated animals for the “greater good” is an okay thing, but I’m not sure I agree with how it is done.
Oh yeah obviously peoples views change as they grow and experience new things. Totally understandable, and I wouldn’t expect him to hold the same views as he did when he was 22, that’d be weird.
I just questioned it because a few of the vegans I know feel quite strongly against any form of animal ‘mistreatment’ even so far as say, using bees to create honey. So the idea that you could be strict vegan (I thought he was vegan for years and years, might be wrong) and then swing all the way to being a hunter seemed quite a big jump. Even though I get the conservation angle.
EDIT. I think it was on the Turned out a Punk podcast where he said he stopped being vegan because he realised the person who originally inspired I’m to become vegan had been doing it for the wrong reasons.
This is interesting about animal populations/conservation. If you have not seen it already. Bloody vegan animals destroying everything without a few meat eaters around, hehe. The effect on the landscape/rivers is amazing.
Yeah my brother was a strict vegan for about five years then suddenly this year he’s completely switched and now eats all types of meat.
Yeah, there you go. Sometimes, somethings change.
If I could go back and have a word with myself aged 22 about my decisions and views…well…that would be nice. Sadly, I’ve had to (pretend to) learn from fuckups.
ha ha.
That was pleasant.
That was real rad. This guys on Palace now right?
good vibes. he looks like he could be in the Native Tongues crew.
Amazing. Nollie shuv nosemanny bump was so sick, and the tre at 1:41.
My only gripe is the audio mix, that shit is definitely close to peaking… my ears are ringing.
I cringed at a couple of fishy footed looking tricks in that.
Maybe I woke up highly critical today.
