Agree with you completely. It’s oh so trendy but does the skaters a disservice. It also does the public a disservice because we can’t support them unless we’re 100% embedded in whatever team/scene they’re on.
It sometimes makes me feel out of the loop because I can’t put a name to a face with a lot of current skaters because their video output doesn’t tell me who the fuck they are.

Totally agree. I think a lot of it tends to come from the fact that many camera pointers can barely compose a shot, yet alone string an edit together, so putting up the most basic of titles in the edit program with a quick fade in and out is beyond them. Amateur hour clowns fronting with all the gear and no idea.
Definitely more of an aesthetic/ trend thing than lack of technical knowledge
