Argh i’ve got so much #skatecontent to catch up on! Need to watch the Real video + these 2!
Soty season problems
It’s like this all the time to be fair. I literally go skating, come home and there’s normally at least one new edit out.
It’s mental really.
It’s completely killed my interest in watching skating, although probably more due to the saturation of the insta algorithm. I think the last parts I watched were Tom Scharr and BDK, which were back in the Spring
Also the rise in 15 minute solo parts. That were really big for a while (probably still are). Three or four of them a day (slight exaggeration). Over it.
Yer nothing worse than skateboarders being productive
Loads of nice stuff in this, but I hate having to refer back to the title card just to work out who is who.
Anyway, Herera had the best part imo. Needed more Mason. Daiku (?) did the sickest front nose pop out.
I know there is an audience for it and not everything is meant for everyone, but I’ll always be from the school of thought that Marc Johnson’s three song part was a shit idea. The problem is there are no company videos these days to spread their footage over anymore, so they just dump it all in one edit, that I’ll forget within a week.
Modern problems, too much skating to watch…
I do find taking a break from skate media helps you to appreciate videos and tricks more when you come back to it.
But, also, this is the part of the year to pay attention to things. This is when the good footage usually drops!
I’ve not really been watching skate videos for 6 months or so.
At least, my consumption is way down. Barely clicking on anything, it seems.
I basically wait to see if there is good chat on here aound a video or if people bring it up in group chats. Then I might click.
I’ve never been like that. Always consumed it all.
Last week, I watched [untitled] and Oval and maybe something else.
But I can remember 2 out of 3.
Or maybe 2 out of 2.
Which is good.
I enjoyed them.
I’ll watch Hairline, Huf and Dime.
Maybe 2-3 clicks a week is a good line to draw for me now.
Watched the new Real video. Didn’t feel it really got going until the second half.
Mason and K-Walks parts’ felt very second gear - purely because I know how fucking insane both of them are.
Ishod is different gravy. Had to rewind the front tail - switch crook - fs 5-0 - 180 out he does on the ledge casually mid line. Operating on a different frequency. So smooth.
Toby Ryan - I’m so far out of the loop with this stuff. Never heard of him. Real’s scouting network is insane! Best part so far IMO. Ender came out of nowhere!
Zion - Champions League level stuff. I know Foy’s his mate, but 3 guest clips? Can’t even talk shit on the Red Bull hate surgically attached to his head when he’s doing B360’s down a 14 stair with a massive guard rail at the bottom. Banger of a part and ender. Elite.
Watched Oval and the Huf videos last night. Quite nice to sit down and watch on a TV but I personally struggle with some of the low down follow/lead shots in lines as they hurt my head, which I think is due to the TV size as I don’t get it watching on phone or my computer.
Pretty sick. Is this his third part this year?! Edit: fourth! This came out a few days ago:
These are the other two, right?
There are two more coming. lol
Frightening that my attention span is so shit now I saw the runtime on the huf video and said “nah”
Like @Londonskater there has got to be some serious hype going on for me to invest more than 10 mins on a video
Still haven’t watched oval
TJ MY SOTY
TJ would be an ace result but he doesn’t have the right shoes I imagine. Hope that wouldn’t be the case though.
Whoever edited that Petty Crime part really didn’t care at all did they? So dull. I’d feel let down if I were TJ.
Hjalte and friends in CPH. Penultimate trick.
I love Hjalte but watching that sends me back to the recent posts some of us have had regarding footage suturation.
When I watched this video it felt like a load of random clips thrown together over a random song. Quality control doesn’t seem to be a thing anymore. It’s like hardly anyone wants to put some effort (or quality control) into their videos.
If you sit through at least two videos like that one a day (averaging 8 a week) then there’s no surprise you’re jaded and over it.
When an actual full length comes along, it’s just as easily swept away.
Not trying to be old man shouting at clouds but the whole value of a skate video is like that of the Lebanese pound to the dollar.
